My application status still shows just 2 updates:
App Submitted
Payment Completed.

I never till today saw any 'In review' or alike status.
I dont even know if they have read my file yet. Ugh...
There is no "in review" status. The only status you would be waiting for now is Interview Requested, and they will send you an email along with it, so no need to check your application, it won't give you any tips.

Anyone who has already interviewed this year have any tips on what to expect? Do they tell who you are interviewing with in the morning, or do you not know until your interviewer introduces himself/herself in the interview process?

Sure. When I went, there were about 25 of us there - big group. Not sure what time your interview is, but you get a pamphlet that has picture and bio of all the student interviewers. there are about 15-20 of them. you do not find out who your interviewer is until they come into admissions and introduce themself and then take you to a room to do an interview. its very laid back and they try to keep it to 30 mins. mine went about 40 and that seemed a little on the long end. good luck, you'll do great!!

My experience was the same as themidwest. Also, I wouldn't suggest trying to remember the background of all interviewers in the pamphlet as mine introduced herself and gave me her background before we started the interview. Best advice is to not stress or panic and just be yourself.

Hi,

I had a question on the personal statement essays. Yale asks us to choose 2 of 4 personal essays.

Is it compulsory to have both the essays from the work environment, or is it ok to have a different situation.

What is recommended, or what is the practice students follow?

regards,
madzy

Hi madzy,
from discussions with admissions and applications tips chats, forums etc. this is what I have gathered:
You should chose the two examples that present you in the best possible light and portray a different aspect of your personality/strength of your candidacy. If you choose an example from longer than 3 years ago, it has to be really strong - the farther you go back in time the stronger the example needs to be. You can choose examples from you professional, academic, extracurricular endeavours, the only consideration is to how far back in time the example goes.
I hope this helps and good luck!

here is my advice on that, it may be wrong but who cares it worked for my application! Pick your 2 best stories in life no matter what they are. Both professional. Both personal. 1 professional. whatever. And make them fit into those 4 essay questions. So if you have a story that you think doesnt fit, make it fit. I had already used the accomplishment essay - and had a second thing that was an accomplishment - so I made it fit as a teamwork story.

2 best stories, make em work. have fun!

FWIW: I wrote about an event from almost ten years ago and received and interview. No telling whether I'll get in.

Hi All,

Am an applicant from India. New to this forum. I applied on Oct 6th and since then no change in status. Has anyone from Bangalore/India received the interview invite from yale? Also, should we interpret the "...Still there is time" Nov.18th email from yale as "Forget about Yale ,still there is time to apply to other schools in R2" ?

IMO...If you talk about graduating from the top of your class five years back, it might not have that impact, even if it's a big accomplishment. But if you talk about how you rescued a project (either professional or volunteer work) five years ago with your technical and soft skills and how it shaped your outlook, that'll work. It's not just the accomplishment but the "why" which is more important.

asked admissions office today, and they said we'll be notified on the 16th via email. Guess we won't be getting a phone call this year...

Thanks for the update. Did you ask specifically if those admitted will be notified by email?

I asked for both admits + rejects. The lady replied that we will get email notifications. Otherwise, maybe it's just an implication that I am getting a reject..
