Let's keep this thread topic about actual questions for the Yale application process. If you want to start "school X vs. school Y" threads, go to the Business School Reviews subforum

I realise the gmat club sample isn't random by a long shot, but is it anyone else's observation that Yale's interviewed a larger proportion of this year's
applicants relative to other years'?
Hey I noticed the same thing. I looked at the profiles thread and there are people there who have applied to Yale without interview invites who are not on this thread. I think the 25 percent holds true, but people without interviews don't tend to join these threads past a certain time, whereas people with interviews start researching and joining the forums when they get the invite-just my speculation.

Posted from my mobile device

I think btk's speculations are spot on. There's always a certain amount of folks on the site who just don't contribute to the thread after a certain point (aka giving up hope on the interview etc.). I feel like in general there are more users on the GMATClub site this year versus last year (although I could be wrong, it's just a feeling).

let me use myself as an example - i had been checking this site often and then got a fairly late invitation in early nov. many were giving up hope so i posted saying i got an invite for encouragement. my name then went on the spreadsheet as an invite. in all honesty, had i never been invited, i never would have posted. it skews the numbers. there may be others like me.

I am also planning to apply in R2. Trying to get the in-depth information from a current student before hitting that submit button though. Till now, I am impressed with Yale but if it has disappoints from Wharton, Booth and Stern then I will not apply there since it will affect the general sentiment.

gaga, I'm not sure where you got that misconception from, but I can assure you that more than many other top schools, the population at Yale is largely self selecting. The types of students who ultimately attend are the ones that wanted to attend for various reasons, including fit, community, professors, etc.

I agree totally. I had the chance to attend Yale SOM's Explore Diversity event and most of my fellow attendees left with feeling that either Yale is the perfect school for them or Yale is definitely not the school for them. For me, the event helped me to put Yale as my first priority school. I understood that Yale is totally different from other top schools in the manner that students select Yale and not vice versa. But in H/S/W the whole attitude is different.

shadowsjc and nisi85,
Thanks! I am impressed with Yale too and looking at your answers I will definitely apply. Since I got red flag from another top b school, I have become overly cautious but I believe Yale would be a great place for MBA.

I've been feeling pretty nervous since last Friday. the more I think about my interview and the specific questions where I could have answered much better, the worse I feel about the decision this coming Thurs. is anyone here as paranoid as I am? Best of luck everyone.

Interview alone isn't going to make or break your candidacy at any bschool. You can walk away from an interview thinking that "I've just had an awesome interview!" and you may still end up with a ding. Vice versa, you may feel like you just had a sub-par interview experience, but every interviewer is looking for different things during an interview. (It's not necessarily the right answers to the questions, there's so much more to it)

2 years ago, I walked away from Booth interview thinking that I might have bombed it. But to my surprise, I didn't bomb it at all. It was just all in my head. I was admitted in the first round.

Whether you get into school X or not, eventually you will end up at a great school. Some people do it the first time. Others get in when they apply the second time. But in the end, it all works out for everyone. You did all the hard work already by submitting great applications to your target schools. Now just sit back and relax, and now it's up to the individual schools to recognize what a great asset you will be to their respective programs.

Way to make me feel better  I am starting to go to the dark place as well, I have been so optimistic this whole time that now the thought of getting a reject throws me completely off-balance. Two days and we'll all know.

Gaga, I thought you applied in R1? I think based on some of your previous posts and the spreadsheet. Also did you guys see someone on the BW forum said they got in - it's obviously a trick to get people talking about the rankings of Yale and SMU Cox by BW - but we all know nobody has gotten in yet.

Don't have any concrete information regarding that issue. But I would be very surprised if they didn't call all the admits. They've always done so, and it's such a small class compared to other schools. They do all the little things to distinguish themselves from the other schools.

Oh shoot, my speculating, etc is only gonna drive you guys more crazy....now I am going back to my books. :|
