Yale is my first choice, but I ranked them 3rd because I thought I'd have a better shot at Tuck and Cornell if I have them first and second respectively. I'm resigned to being dinged at Yale as well. Decision day for Yale is Feb 24, and I think if we don't receive any invites from them this week or next, we're pretty much done.
BTW,..did you apply to Darden R1 or R2? Congrats on the invite!

We're trying to figure out if Darden and Haas possibly notify R1 consortium applicants first because they consolidate rounds.

Haven't heard anything from darden and haas,..which has gotten me worried.

I'm a round 2 applicant and I received a Darden invite on 1/30. The interesting thing is that on the Darden website it shows that my application was submitted on 1/21, so there must have been a delay by the Consortium. I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point....still early in the game for them I think.

Do you know if Darden is sensitive to rankings? I ranked them 3rd.

I talked to haas and Anderson, and they told me since they getting cgsm apps trickled in in clumps of 10 or more they are sending out invites after review. So some apps are getting reviewed and invited to interview while other are just coming in to their system.

I ranked Darden 3rd as well. I'm not sure about the sensitivity issue with invites. I've gotten invites from Darden, Ross and Cornell ranked as my 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively. Maybe it'll play a part in the acceptance portion...

I wish I'd known more about ranking. The information that I had was from a webinar by The Consortium. It stated that the schools do not know your ranking until after they've accepted you and are considering you for a fellowship.

I would have played it totally differently had I known it affects my candidacy!

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this Friday. That's when the Ross blog states the next round of interview invites for The Consortium applicants go out.

Wouldn't that be a waste of time? Presumably they can see your ranking before they send invites. So why waste time interviewing you if they plan on dinging you for a low ranking?

Hopefully not. I have Darden as my #6, and so far, none of my top 3 schools have called  I really had a feeling this would happen.

Anyone hear back from Tuck (excl. self-initiated interview) or Haas regarding interviews for round 2?

Well....this isn't good for me. I just called Haas and they confirmed that my app went under review on Jan.11. Thats 3 weeks. If what you're saying is correct and they send out invites as they review that would mean I'm probably dinged.

It took me 8 weeks to get an invite so don't give up hope.

For most of you remember, the interview is usually the LAST piece of the puzzle for evaluation. They've looked at everything else, they've decided you're a good candidate and may need that extra reassurance. Or you're interesting enough the interview can push you in the admit category.

It's not uncommon for these to be out of the blue and late in the application process. NO ONE should give up hope just yet. For many of the Round Two folks, it really hasn't been that long. I'm actually impressed by the turnaround time thus far of most schools and most should expect invites to be rolling in through February (just look at last year's forum as a reference point)!

I respect your opinion Senator,..but if i'm correct you're an R2 (meaning December applicant),...and Haas consolidates Consortium apps,... so the reason it took 8 weeks for your invite is probably because your app wasn't being reviewed for much of that time. My guess is your interview probably went out shortly after it was reviewed.

Anyhow,...I just reviewed the email they forwarded to me on Jan.11......it says that the file is "ready for review"....so not technically in review,...just "ready" for review. So thats my hope right now. Man,..its frustrating waiting for these invites.

Mooze,

You're right that I was a November applicant. And Haas communicated with me in Nov & Dec. regarding my app. It still took a while for them to review and I assume I was in the queue, but several folks that were CGSM R1 did get December invites. I was probably one of the last few in R1 to get an invite.

The other consideration is that these adcoms are under a ton of paper. Your app may just be at the bottom of that pile and they haven't yet reviewed things.

I know it's a tough time for just about all of you Round Two folks who haven't gotten in (and some who haven't gotten invites yet), but if I were a betting man, I'd bet less than half of the invites have been extended. And from looking at statistics on the roll call, it reinforces that line of thinking.

I don't think they will. I just think that we get preoccupied with the ranking and lose sight of the big picture. I think that if a school is interested in you they will extend an interview regardless of a "rank".

While I agree with what you have said, I do think the ranking can influence offering Person A vs Person B the last spot on the admissions list. Put it this way - Person A ranks you 2/5 and Person B who has somewhat similar qualifications ranks you 4/4, you'll most likely offer the admission to person A, because the probability that he'll accept is higher than the probability that person B will accept. They have to protect "their yield rate". Again i do agree that you'll get the interview invite, but maybe not the admission spot.
