Hello, does anyone know the seat allocation percentage in R1 vs R2? Planning to apply in R2
R1 has a slightly higher acceptance rate than R2 for some reason.
From the year I saw data shared (analysis on Reddit I haven't kept track of), the R1 acceptance rate is around ~13% and the R2 acceptance rate is around ~8% (for some specific year). The number of applicants is historically about 3000 in R1, therefore 390 students are offered admission. The 2+2 program has about ~120 admits and the class size for HBS this year will be in the high 900s, low 1000s. From here, we have 1000 seats, less 390 R1 admits, less 120 2+2 admits, leaving 490 seats for R2. If there are 9600 applicants yearly, less 3000 applicants from R*551, less 1000 applicants from 2+2, it implies a 8.75% admit rate in round 2.
I imagine someone will comment to offer a dispute so feel free to believe whoever makes you feel more confident - you can do it!
