Congrats to all the admits! Quite jealous...

Might be a silly question, but am wondering if anyone that interviewed in a region other than his/her ethnic origin (except for the US interviews) was admitted today? For example an Indian that interviewed in London or a Spaniard interviewed in Shanghai.

None of my European/American buddies that interviewed in Shanghai were ultimately admitted...

Do you think there are quotas for the number of people admitted from each interview location?

Does skype video conferencing count? Still on a bit of a high from the result:) Could barely go to sleep yesterday night (I am in Singapore so the result came in at midnight)!

I got an admit as well! Now I have a serious dilemma about which school to go to (HBS or INSEAD). Need to make a decision this week and I'm reall torn between the two schools.

Im applying to R3 in two days. Got almost everything ready. I have a stupid questions but I was reading through some articles from the past and I see that some people are admitted without interview. Is this still occuring in the present? Did anyone get admitted without interviewing and thought all the way through that they were dinged but got admitted instead?

That must be a torturous process whose outcome is worthy of spending all day in a buffet and then 10 jaggershots :)

Is anyone aware of the current interview policy for admissions?

As far as I know no one gets admitted without an interview.

Is anyone else debating between HBS and another school (with a particular program in mind, so specific to circumstances)? If so, please IM me.

lol, I would guess that 90%+ of HBS admits have other schools that they were admitted to and are part of the decision process. It's really a personal choice and you have to find the right school for you based on learning style, your future job aspirations, and cultural fit. Congrats on the admit and good luck on your decision!

I'm in Texas and I haven't gotten the call. I did get the pre-matriculation email though.
I wonder if they'll be calling tomorrow as well? I'm sure they've stopped for the day today.

It may also depend on if you checked the box on your application allowing them to contact you if admitted.

Actually, my interviewer called me up this morning. He was incredibly enthusiastic, and spent a good 20 minutes on the phone with me. He even pointed out some of the things from the interview that convinced him I'd be a good fit. I thought that was a really nice touch - and he really made me feel at home at HBS.

Could you give us a few pointers on what convinced him you were a good fit... Would help us third rounders..

Well in my case it had to do with my interview. I think I was just very enthusiastic, spoke pretty clearly, and was able to explain complex technical things in a non-technical and entertaining way. You have to remember - at Harvard, you have to be able to take a position in front of a class of 90 people, speak your mind clearly, and back up your position confidently. Additionally, you will be an expert in one or more fields, but many of your cohort won't be. So you have to be able to communicate your points in a manner that everyone will understand.

This same concept applies to your application essays as well. So if you're technical, or have strong IB experience, or something else in depth - you must be able to communicate it well in general terms.

Hope that helps.

No call from HBS yet :(

It might have to do with the fact that I'm a deffered admit for the class of 2015. However, I was really hoping to ask them a few questions. I guess I'll just have to ask them when I visit. Anyone else in the same shoes?

My interviewer tried to call me but there was some connection issue with my phone so she ended up sending me an email instead.

I second icemanjs4 with regards to the point about explaining complex work in a simple term. Looking back at my interview, my interviewer asked me a lot to describe interesting course I did in my undergrad degree, current work that I do and so on.

The other specific comment she also gave me was that I had international experience in banking industry in the Asia Pacific so that seems to also help to expand on international leadership stories you may have:)
