Sandy--so far no mention of R3 admits on the c/o 2013 Facebook page, which means they are most likely awaiting approval to join the group. Or they haven't gotten around to joining yet.

Firm says it erred

A Cambridge consulting firm’s controversial bid to bolster the image of Moammar Khadafy and Libya should have been registered with the US government as a lobbying effort, an internal company investigation found. (By Farah Stockman, Globe Staff)

jl12, the facebook page is viewable even if you aren't a member. Member total is now 637, up from Friday when it was (if my memory serves me) 629.

Adventurecap - I'm aware of that but it doesn't tell the whole story. There may be wall posts or such with more detail. The delta could be R1, R2 or R3 just joining.

Sounds like you got good news on Friday?

Facebook group is mostly people organizing local meet-ups and arranging to meet classmates this summer as they travel to cities in Europe/Asia. No posts yet on hatching plans for global domination or WL updates, and in all likelihood, there won't be - people won't join the group and say "Hi! I just got off the waitlist!" But I'll let you all know if I hear something.

Best of luck to you all!

Hmm, it does show 637. I'm hoping these are joining due to R3 since there is inherently going to be some delay between acceptance on Thursday and joining of FB. Even if there were WL'ers admitted on Friday, I'm also crossing my fingers and hoping WL acceptances are going to be through a trickle process rather than one event. However, common sense tells me that it probably was a relatively “large” event given that they had probably already estimated a number of students who wouldn’t matriculate and already had a number of WL applications reviewed and ready to accept once they got the notifications of denial from students on 5/5. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they sent out majority of WL invites on Friday. Again, I’m hoping common sense doesn’t prevail here…

WL is more of a trickle, they call you up and expect an answer real soon, since, duh, that is what you have affirmed by being on WL, an ability to pull the trigger right away. Thus, they do not send out 20 WL admits and wait around to hear, as they do, even in R3 a bit. It is really retail, w. small numbers, and each case being curated by an admissions officer. Often Dee or Elaine Chang.

I love the enthusiasm fsaq! I was thinking about that too. But is it smart or just masochistic? I can't imagine putting in all that time just to get rejected or waitlisted again. I suppose the big question is how does HBS look at it if you apply again quickly 9 mo after your last application? Do you have to reinvent the whole application?

I think R3 is a joke. People apply knowing that there really isnt a chance of getting in. Besides, if what Sandy says about wlisters and favors is true, then most R3 spots go to wlisted people whom will be helped by a bigshot to get into the program. I am just kind of amazed I actually didnt get an interview. I thought I had the diversity thing going for R3 because of my industry profile. According to Sandy there were "absolutely standard types admitted".

I wouldnt worry to much about being a "reapplicant", especially if one applied in R3. Good thing is that the new questions will force my application to be different. I was worried about running out of stories for the royal court to enjoy.

How to answer the new HBS essay questions --

How To Answer Harvard’s New Essays
by John A. Byrne

The official start to the new MBA application season for the Class of 2014 began yesterday (May 9) when Harvard Business School released its new essay questions . . , the publication of Harvard’s questions is “the bugle that starts the Kentucky Derby,” says admissions consultant Sandy Kreisberg, aka HBS Guru. “That’s when anyone who is focused on applying next year starts paying attention. We’re talking about the first round mindset, the bankers, the PE (private equity) guys, the consultants. These guys have known they were going to apply years ago.”

This year’s big news: HBS applicants no longer have a choice among questions. They have to write as many as 200 more words than this year. And there are two new questions, including one that requires you to fess up to three setbacks as well as three accomplishments.

Hey Lennman1 did you apply on R3? I will give it another try. I will try to get my GRE scores a little bit up although I think they are reasonable. were you waitlisted or interviewed?

fsaq, I was r2. Thinking not putting enough time into gmat was what may have gotten me, I got reasonably far in the process / have an unconventional background. I was thinking of doing GRE instead this time if I do it again as its more fungible across grad programs.
