That's amazing. I thought that they were releasing interviews on Nov 12th? Do we get an early interview special? Nice.
Congrats to all; I think getting an interview from HBS is special comparing to other schools. They interview less candidates than others.

The email says the system goes up online tomorrow, so we can schedule our interviews then.

Their line "Again, we hope this advance notice is helpful to you." makes me wonder if they were planning to send out invites early all along.

If the stats of prior years continue, then I imagine it is along the lines of 25%. About 12% overall gets in (correct me if I'm wrong) and about 50% of those interviewed get accepted.

It sounds as though most of the people who have received invites thus far submitted on or near the deadline. Could it be they are releasing invites in REVERSE chronological order?

Today we sent out about 750 invitations to interview. I think we will ultimately send around 850 by the notification date, January 21.

I can't predict when this additional 100 invitations will go out nor to whom. It is possible that candidates invited in the next few weeks will not have extensive options to interview in hub cities; we will make every effort to work with them to schedule an interview which is convenient.

The Admissions Board continues to review written applications and discuss cases until the January notification date.

I also anticipate that around 100 Round One candidates who have not been interviewed will be invited to accept a place on the wait list in January. As their cases are further considered, they may be invited to interview.

We are trying to be as transparent as possible about this anxiety-producing process. I hope I am clear in my continued message that this is a "selection" process designed to bring a talented and diverse mix of students into the classroom. There are no hard and fast rules and there are many more qualified candidates than we have capacity to admit.

Just about to post that blog entry...

So missing the cut today isn't a death sentence, but there's not much more than a glimmer of hope. Congrats to everyone who made it -- hopefully gmatclub will round up a few of the 100 extra invites.

Does anyone have any guesses no how many HBS applications come in during R1, R2, and R3 respectively?

My guess was:

3000 apps in R1 - 750/3000 = 25% interview rate
5000 apps in R2 - 750/5000 - 15% interview rate
2000 apps in R3 - 300/2000 = 15% interview rate
