By my calculations there should still be 200 interview invitations left to go out for R1. Considering that the total number of admits is 900 and they accept roughly half of all interviewees and admissions are even between R1 and R2, simple math dictates they need to interview 900 people in R1. So far they've signed up 700.
Am I off base? Small dreams to keep alive...
You are a little off, but not too much.
They interview approximately 850 from R1, 850 from R2, and 100 or so from R3... All in all, 1900 interviews (historically) for 1050 spaces (900+ matriculate)...
And remember, 150 is the upper edge, since they may have already sent out more interviews than have actually signed up. Additionally, some/many of those remaining may be for telephone/alum interviews for remote areas of the globe. If you don't have an invite, and are in the states or in locations that have filled up, I wouldn't hold my breath.
