Do they consider number of years of experience based on the date we are applying on or on the date when the batch will commence

Varun0902 The schools consider your years of work experience as of the time the MBA program begins, not strictly as of the application submission date. But the basis of judgment still remains the quality of your career growth progression until the date of application submission, because that career history is hard coded in proof. What will happen in the period between applying and joining the batch is not something the adcoms necessarily have full control over evaluating. Although I will add one exception here, which is INSEAD. INSEAD had, for a long time, a question around what applicants planned to do after submitting the application and before joining the MBA. Even Oxford has something somewhat similar. So yes, adcoms, even when it is not explicitly asked in the application do give considerable thought to how applicants will continue enhancing their skills after submission. I know they take it seriously because it is not that uncommon for admits to these MBA programs to resign from their jobs around or just after submitting applications and start internships instead if they are targeting a significant career pivot.

Hello, is there any counsellor who guarantees admission into top schools in UK/Europe? I am looking for someone who can work on my profile diligently from scratch (who can let me know what I need to work on and what I should avoid) and help me secure admits into top B-schools for the 2027 intake?

Any suggestions or personal experiences will be appreciated!

Inform the adcom, they'll help you out. I faced the similar situation. Don't worry - adcom is really helpful...

We don't 'guarantee' admissions and I'd say nobody (including the AdCom) can truly guarantee!

Ofcourse your profile and the application play a major role, but there are other aspects (including which round you apply in, the level of competition from similar profiles in that round etc.) which affect the final outcome.

That said, give it your best, make sure to be authentic, and good things usually follow.

Feel free to reach out with your details if you'd like to discuss.

Willdoit9 - I'd avoid reaching out on LinkedIn. Maybe they're busy with work (or personal stuff).

If you don't hear back within a reasonable timeframe considering the deadline, inform the Adcom, and they might assign another interviewer.

All the best!

Arvind

If you're planning to apply for top MBA programs, starting early can make a big difference. Beyond GMAT/GRE scores, schools also evaluate career progression, leadership experience, essays, recommendations, and long-term goals. Many applicants focus heavily on test scores and underestimate how important storytelling and application strategy can be.
I’ve seen that candidates who build a strong narrative around their achievements and future plans tend to have a stronger application overall. Resources from MIM ESSAY can also help applicants understand school requirements, essay approaches, interview preparation, and profile-building strategies before applying.
If you're applying this cycle, start planning your timeline early because essays, recommendations, and applications usually take more time than expected.

Hi Sef237

You do not choose it in the application form, so nothing to worry about there. HEC usually discusses the 12 vs 16-month track later in the process, closer to enrollment/program planning.

Typically, candidates looking for an internship or career switch lean towards the 16-month format, while the 12-month option is more accelerated and suits people returning to the same industry/function.

So just proceed with the application normally for now.

We encourage you to inquire with us so we can schedule a free strategy session for guiding you.

Thanks and all the best!

Hello,
When do we choose between 12 or 16 months for the MBA january intake? It doesn’t appear in the application form.

Hi nyonikamittal,

What actually matters is finding someone honest about your profile, who understands positioning well, and helps you build a realistic but ambitious strategy over time.

A few things I would personally look for while choosing a consultant:

  • Do they evaluate your profile in depth before making promises?
  • Are they able to clearly explain strengths, gaps, school fit, career goals, and execution strategy?
  • Do they have actual experience with European schools specifically, not just US MBA admissions?
  • Do they push generic storytelling, or do they help bring out your authentic narrative?
  • Are they willing to challenge weak goals/applications instead of just agreeing with everything?
  • Can they guide on profile building, not just essays at the last minute?
One more thing people underestimate: responsiveness and attention to detail matter a lot. A consultant may have a flashy brand, but if they disappear during crunch time, it becomes very stressful.

The best consultants usually do not “sell dreams”; they help you present the strongest possible version of your profile strategically and honestly.

We encourage you to inquire with us so we can schedule a free strategy session for guiding you.

Thanks and all the best!

What were your work ex years if you could share?
I have 10 years of work experience, which is kind of not in my favour I believe, because it's on the late side
