Considering let’s say median of gmat focus is lesser than that of a gmat classic how b school will take this into account
or it will put candidate with easier version of exam at advantage
prashi1503 Each B school has limited spots available. Even though the schools will use the concordance table to get a sense of the applicant's academic ability, who will be at an advantage or disadvantage depends on the quality of the profiles received in that cycle and the level of GMAT performance (for the Legacy Edition or the Focus Edition).
Last year I got someone on our team to interview a panelist (IIM A prof) regarding what IIM A PGPX holds most important, and I am happy to share my insights here1. GMAT score is most valuable for shortlisting the candidate for the interview. We have seen candidates get in with surprisingly low GRE GMAT scores, so if you get the initial shortlist, the interview and the essays matter the most.
2. The IIM A PGPX interview is perhaps
THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the entire process. If a candidate fails to impress the professors on the panel, he/she is likely to be rejected.
3. The IIM A interviews are structured to assess the following
a. Is the candidate suitable for the rigorous IIM A curriculum?
b. If the person has been working in a company for a long time, does he/she have a deep knowledge of the industry/trends. This proves his/her sincerity and involvement - a sign of future success
The professor specifically cited examples of PSU applicants who fail to provide an overview of their industry.
c. Skills and knowledge that the person brings and added value in the classroom
d. for people who have been far from academics for a long time, or for people who do not have a math background: how good are they with numbers and how will they do in finance and analytics courses.
Best wishes
