But still a GMAT score that would increase one’s chance of getting selected?
GMAT works only till the shortlist, after that, it is the profile, your stories, and the interview performance, primarily extempore. I have seen people with 625 getting selected and 715 rejected. All in all, try to get a decent GMAT score, and prepare for the interview, but don’t believe that your GMAT is gonna carry you through, get yourself battle ready.

And yes, for General Engineer Male profile, 645+ seems to be a decent score, but there is nothing an excellent performance at the interview can’t crack!

I believe R-1 of PGPX is already out of your reach.

You haven’t shared much detail to comment about your profile so details about your undergrad CGPA, any achievement at work, any ECA and a tentative assessment of your GMAT projected score (not the desired score) would help make an appropriate comment about your suitability.

IIM A although welcomes all sorts of profiles 🙂

B.com - 80%. Got Achiever Extraordinaire thrice at EY. Recent GMAT mocks scored 525. Sadly, haven’t participated in ECA much. ACCA was an integrated course with B.com, couldn’t have the bandwidth. A bit worried about how this will negatively impact my profile. Switching profile completely would be possible right via IIM A? Also, R1 deadline is Aug end right?

Yes it’s possible to switch profiles completely if you get in IIM-A

I think you just need to have a gmat score 645 and that should be good to expect an interview call.

Post that a lot will depend on your extempore and interview performance.

So just work for GMAT.

The deadline for R-1 is 02nd Sept.

Round doesn’t matter much so don’t apply in a rush if score isn’t the best of your performance. Get best possible score and then apply whether R-1 or R-2

Very true, get your scores without worrying about anything else. Plan for one task at a time and now your task is to get a good GMAT/GRE score

Official website says a 70-75th %ile is somewhat considered to fall in the eligibility criterion. This %ile however stands at 595-605 GMAT FE.
Can someone guide if thats the case.
Can a 615 be compensated with good work-ex and essays ?

There are cases of 615 getting admit offers but all other components of your admission process needs to be top notch and some amount of luck is also needed.

Better to have another attempt of GMAT to be on the safer side as you still have a lot of time.

Need some thoughts on an estimated GMAT score
Acads - 9/7/8
Work Ex: just under 5 years
Work type - Strategy Consulting at global MNC
Pretty clear with the basics: Why IIMA? Why MBA? Why now? questions
A clear short term and long term (5 year post MBA goal)

Are you seeking for a prescriptive score?

645 is about average score. Higher the better.

etdolores, Is the shortlists based on just scores ?Asking because essays in PGPX is a step after profile shortlist.

Unable to push 615 though.

See, people have cracked at lower scores as well in past but that's less than maybe 5 percentile . Some would switch to GRE if they platued with their GMAT. Factors change depending on your profile. At this point nothing is know about your profile

645+ with clear narrative and solid mock practices should be sufficient.

675+ will put you in a very competitive spot.

So do apply even if you get around 645 but aim higher
