I currently see 30 Indians in the 18J class (it just went down, from 33 last time I published, can't tell what happened).
This compares with 64 indians in the 17D class, and 49 indians in the 17J class
(I wasn't expecting this difference). Does this mean that in the J classes INSEAD takes fewer indians, or is it that Indians are less interested in this session? No Idea, but I wasn't expecting this difference and I have no data beyond 17J to compare with.
Whichever the case, if there are less than 20 seats to fill in rounds 2 to 4, you don't want to apply in R3. Its safer to go for the next batch.

Hi everyone,
I had my first alumna interview!
My profile:
Based in Japan, Chinese nationality, educated in the US
WE: 3 years
GMAT; 710
Industry: Biotech
Role: Sales & Marketing
Interview:
The interviewer is in corporate planning for a Japanese big pharma company , and attended INSEAD 5~10 years ago.
The interview was at her office. It was very casual, conversational and lasted for about an hour.
Questions asked;
- Tell me about yourself
- Why MBA
- Why INSEAD
- Did you apply to other school/ why not?
- Cultural shock experience?
- What makes you different from other peers at work?
- What is your strength/ what you can offer to INSEAD with quite short experience.
To this last question, I was a bit challenged, and answered “I’m certainly not the most experienced one, but I’ve had unique experience in A, B, C in biotech industry, and could provide some insight in E, D, F....” She then gave me suggestion that for my next interview, I should answer “Because I’m young, I have fresh-eyes and can ask many questions and encourage people to speak-up...etc ”. It was very nice of her to give a feedback like that.
In between questions, she told me about her experience, how INSEAD has impacted her career and life, recommendations on courses, housing, passing the language test and reading up on recommended materials for financial accounting before the program starts.
She did not mention at the end if she would recommend me or not, so I have no idea where I stand.
It was definitely a pleasant interview, and I hope to be less nervous and more relaxed the the second one!
