Hi Good folks at GMAT club
I applied for ISB last year(R3). I was rejected after interview and am planning to apply again, showcasing the improvement I have made since interview.
I actually wrote the best possible essay I could last year, and I still am convinced that it tells my story concisely and precisely. Not that I mind writing again but in my head I don't want to touch something that is not broken and says the same story of Why MBA and Why me.
Can someone help me and suggest, if I should submit the same Why MBA and Why you essay or should I write it again?
To showcase what has changed, I will utilize my 3rd re-applicant essay. My goals and reasons for MBA have not changed, so is it worth putting the same wine in new bottle? As wine is all about taste than bottle.
Thank you!
Hi
vaibhavkumar98,
Each element of your application- essays, gmat, job achievements, acads, etc. + your interview performance makes up your overall score which determines the final decision. Hence, just because you had an interview call, doesn't mean essays were perfect. Application would've met the threshold but not enough to cover the interview performance or the overall 'cut-off' (subjective or objective).
Hence, would suggest introspecting and possibly changing some bits of the structure of the essays. In any case, you'd need to work on the first essay since the topic has changed. A wine might be more about the taste but a better look & feel of the bottle draws attention

Happy to review your previous application to share detailed thoughts.
Cheers,
Manan
