The first attempt in which i got 720, my verbal score was lower compared to my verbal score in
Experts' Global mocks and Official mocks, that's why I am confused whether I should devote my time for a retake?

Correct, if you have a couple of alums who are willing to spend time on brainstorming, reviews, and more importantly being there for you through the process and not just one essay review at the end..you don’t neeed a consultant. There’s nothing extra or special the consultants bring to the table.
I don't have any such network as I am from public sector so not many professionals, except few, switch their career from this profession. That's why I think hiring a consultant would work for me.

Guys, in my recent attempt at GMAT I scored a 720. Should I appear for a retake? I am targeting ISB and IIMs mainly. Thanks.
Is 720 your best shot? If not then retake along with the app prep since there’s still time for R2. More importantly, what’s your profile?
While 720 in isolation is a decent score, even another 20 points would enhance chances a lot. I say your best shot because you never know what part tilts the scales in your favor or against.

walterwhite756, "Exorbitant" is a relative word. People have their own reasons to charge as per the services provided and time devoted. Every one will say they are the best if you ask who is good!! So do your own research, ask people on LinkedIn or your personal network. Also note that more than 50% of the candidates qualify without any "consultant" help. So, please feel free to exercise that option, its not that bad!
