Although not sure where I was lacking. 329 GRE, 7.2 years experience, 5.7 CGPA
maybe GPA, should have been countered by a very high score

But what I heard is if our GRE/ GMAT scores are high it would help in compensating low CGPA. Isn’t this the case?

Hi guys, sharing my profile here for a suggestion:

Gmat:690 ( Standard)
Acad:
10th:93%, 12th:97.4%, B-tech: Mechanical Engineer Graduated from NIT Warangal with a CGPA of 7.82.
Experience: Currently having a 5 years experience in Automotive Sector in the Mechanical Design Profile.
Extra Curriculars: Projects in College related to Vehicle design, Event Manager for our College technical fest and Worked as a General Secretary for one of our College clubs.

Applied for ISB this year and rejected in Round-2 after interview ( Interview experience good, 3 panelists and I answered my experience related and career goal questions pretty well but failed to properly justify why ISB which I think may be the reason for my rejection).

I am looking for a suggestion whether to reapply with the same score for next year or give GMAT again.

Any suggestion is appreciated!!! Thanks.

Given the ruthlessly competitive admissions environment, I would recommend taking the GMAT (Focus Edition this time) again. Have synthesised my thoughts here if you wish to re-apply in the future - https://youtu.be/_SFy9exCNSc

Thanks!

R2 EEO applicant, location pref: Delhi, GMAT: 740

Received an email from ISB last night stating that due to high volume of applications, the interviews of EEO applicants this year have been postponed.

My application has been shortlisted, but the interview will take place towards the end of March 2024, and results will be out April 2024.

All of this information has been stated in the mail, sharing for reference :)

Disappointed to know you didn't convert. I came from the automotive sector and a mechanical design profile and made it to ISB and INSEAD a few years back. I would be happy to review your case and provide you with some feedback to start on the right foot going forward. GMAT is a first step, but that alone will not give you the edge, seeing how competitive ISB is. I also think there may be a fundamental gap in how you present yourself to a B School. For example, as an evaluator, I would likely have no interest in knowing what you did in college. I want to know what you have done in the last 5 years that has helped you become a well-rounded personality. You don't want to conform to the stereotypes - Typical Indian Male Engineer (Low social skills/ mediocre leadership capabilities), rather, you want to create opposite typecasts that help you stand out. Similar advice for the "why ISB" question - No matter how many times you skim the pages of PGP programs to take notes on the curriculum, activities, and namecalling clubs that help you move closer to your goals, nothing even comes close to preparing your own unique answer- Why "You" Want To Attend ISB, supported with first hand insights and conversations with current students and alumni.

Best wishes

An extremely tricky situation to be in with a low CGPA in college. If there's something Top MBA programs rarely forgive, it's a low GPA. A low GPA must be compensated with steep career growth and a variety of experiences. You must also pay heed to your undergrad transcripts and take relevant courses in the weak areas to show your commitment to getting the admit. If your grades in calculus, statistics, accounting, or economics were mediocre, you should take courses in these subjects from reputed colleges and let the school know. Take calculus and statistics courses preferrably. If you get an A in any of these courses, you should submit proof of improvement as early as possible.Take these steps proactively, don't wait until you're on the waitlist or facing rejection. Most applicants have no idea how they can change adcom's opinions about themselves, and they fail to take the right steps ahead of time. Although I am happy to learn you've had multiple promotions with your employer, evaluating your odds for other top B schools abroad will require more context and information. Feel free to reach out.
Best wishes for ISB, although the delay in the call could mean a concern regarding the CGPA.

Best wishes
