First and foremost, I want to emphasize the importance of being confident in your candidacy. It's crucial to understand that admissions decisions are not solely based on your profile but on how effectively you convey your experiences and insights, particularly in your application and the interviews.
Your experiences and the lessons you can draw from them will remain consistent (based on your readiness for MBA/PGP), regardless of your application round. However, if you genuinely believe you have the potential to achieve a GMAT score of 720, and you successfully do so, it can undoubtedly enhance the strength of your overall profile.
And do not hinge your application on the "diversity aspect" alone. You probably do not know if you are a diversity profile or not. Most likely you are not. But even if you are, that should not keep you from the effort and quality work you need to put into your application for a top B-school.
