Hello Everyone. Hope you’re doing well and the preparations are going good. It would be great if someone could rate my profile and provide some recommendations:

10th - 93.09% (SSC)
12th - 78.15% (HSC)
BE Mechanical (Mumbai University) - 8.24 GPA
-Member of Creative Team
-Winner of state badminton championship in 2014. Winner of University badminton tournament and represented the university at inter-state university championship in 2017 and 2018 as the team captain

From 2018 to 2021 - Worked with Godrej and Boyce as Assistant Manager - Purchase in their import procurement department

From 2021 to 2023: PG (MBA in operations management) - 2.55 GPA
- Was a student placement coordinator
- Campus winner of Asian Paints Chain Reaction’22 (supply chain) and represented the institute at the national finals

From 2023 - till date: Working with Ernst and Young as a management consultant.
- Started as a consultant and promoted to senior consultant in 2024
- Received an award within first 6 months of joining the firm

Will take a short career break from May 2025 due to personal reasons.

Needed guidance on the following (sincerely targeting R1 of ISB) since I am a complete noob:
- Study material to be referred?Self-study or tutor-led? If tutor-led, which one to go for? Which mocks?
- When should I schedule the GMAT keeping in mind the time required for LORs/essays?
Your academic so far looks great to me.
University of Mumbai is extremely conservative in awarding good CGPA. But you have that.
Big four tag working in the consulting role appears great.
With respect to professional sabbatical due to personal reason must have a justified story to tell while filling out the work experience tab since ISB doesn't reserve an optional essay to address any potential liability of a candidacy.
To me, if you score well in GMAT or GRE, you are going to be an ideal candidate for ISB provided you do well in the heartbeat of the ISB application: essays, LORs and resume.

Okay I’m sorry I missed this before your question about GMAT. You need to keep any gaps covered, that might reflect poorly if there’s a gap (more than 3 months). For GMAT I’m sure you got plenty of resources on GMATClub. The target score can be 675+. But why do you need a second MBA

More than three month gap with convincing explanation will not put you in win-lose, but in win-win situation.
We helped several candidates navigate this bottleneck.😊

Should be 5000 to 7500

The essays and the LOR needs to be done *before* application deadline right?
Yes 23.59.59hrs on Sep 14
Just a word of caution though: do not wait till the last moment, to submit your application.

There have been instances in the past when ISB's server has crashed towards the end (perhaps due to server overload), leading to some anxious moments for the applicants.

Need suggestions if a lateral move will impact my chances for ISB Hyderabad Applications for R1 this year and if this will be considered as a red flag or a lack of upward trajectory in profile. Please let me know.
10th Class: 93% (AP State Board)
Intermediate: 95% (AP State Board)B.Tech Mech Engg: 80.6% (JNTU Hyderabad, Ranked #1 in Telangana)
Extracurriculars in College: Marketing head in college fest, Team lead in college race car project (Formula Bharat), participated in several other competitions
Personal Interests: Done 8+ treks including Himalayan trek
Work Experience:
1) Jul’2017 to Sep’2018 (1 Y & 3 M): Worked in Oil Industry as associate design engineer. Promoted in 1 year to Engineer -1
Wanted to move from Engineering role to marketing role and quit in Oct’18. I Learned some digital marketing courses during the break.
2) Mar’19 to De’24: Total of 6 years roughly. Joined as marketing intern and promoted multiple times (Intern - Sales Manager - Sr. Sales Manager - Associate Director - Director) in a D2C FMCG startup based out of Bangalore. Handled revenue for the company. ARR 70 Cr+. Company raised multiple rounds and has good visibility.
Resigned as Head of Revenue in Dec’24 and joined a couple of colleagues to start a company in Nutraceuticals. Couldn’t raise enough money to continue so I applied for jobs.
I currently have an offer as D2C Growth Manager in a startup in the Electric items category (Raised funding from Marquee investors). Current revenue <10 Cr. Target 25 Cr this year.
Current GMAT FE Score (Taken Last Year - 615)
I am taking GMAT again and targeting 655+
Will this move impact my chances for ISB? Should I consider moving or look for more opportunities?

I don’t see the career transition hurt your chances much but that career (Dec ’24 onwards) just doesn’t seem to provide you much imo. Other than the fact that you might be considered a jumper, I don’t see any issues. You’ll have to explain the switch though. Others might not need explaining.

Also would recommend a higher score

Could you Please review my profile :

10th - 10 cgpa
12th- 89%
BTech- Food Process Engg. NIT Rourkela 8.5 cgpa Academic excellence awardee
College Extra Curr.- Corporal at NCC, Mentor at Orphanage NGO, Hockey InterNIT Gold.

Placed at Amul. Worked in two region as Territory Sales Incharge for 3 years and then as Brand Executive Marketing since last year. Total 4 yr workex.
Good academics and unique major & work-ex for a B.Tech graduate. Your goal to be a FMCG brand manager aligns beautifully with your background in Amul. College level extracurriculars are decent but would help to include something recent as well. Also, what’s your GMAT score (or target if still preparing)? From whatever details you have shared, overall profile seems good. Kindly reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed conversation. Wishing you the very best!

mbaazzpirant
could you pls review my profile once
About me -
BTech - 79%
Class 12th - 87%
Class 10th - 9.2 CGPA
2.5 Yrs work ex in IT GCC as a software developer
Scores look decent but you haven’t shared details of your undergrad college and current organisation. Almost all applicants with CS background who apply to ISB mention PM as the post MBA goal so you’ll have to make your profile and application stand out for better chances. While certifications are good, try identifying some opportunities at your current organisation where you could get hands-on PM kind of experience. Having any noteworthy extracurriculars would also add value. Please reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) to discuss your profile in greater detail. Wish you the best!

Hi, Good profile overall. The work experience sounds exciting if you constantly work with global teams. In this experience, I would highlight the leadership elements of how you keep all these teams with differing priorities aligned on common objectives, resolve conflict and show a result oriented mindset in moving work forward. Unfortunately many applicants undersell their experience by talking about coordinating and supporting which are doer words and do not reflect leadership. So this is just a heads up to you- market your experience well so that you stand out in this application competition.
Another word of caution would be on your career goals- if you have not worked on social impact projects so far in the past 5 years of your career, there will be no past evidence to show that you will really do this after MBA and that too at reduced salaries as most impact investment firms pay less. So, if you cannot support your goals with past experience as evidence, then do not write it as adcoms will think you are saying it to please.
Instead, build your application on your demonstrated strengths.

Hi, can anyone suggest what would be an ideal score to target for my profile?
10th: 10 CGPA
12th: 95.4%
Engineering grad, having 8.1 CGPA (converted to 81%) in undergrad
Currently having around 21 months of work experience. Earlier worked for 14 months as an Analyst in a risk management consulting firm, then had a gap of around 2 months before joining a financial MNC as an Analyst in the data science division.
Nothing significant in my workex, along with extra-curriculars.
I am aware that I have an average profile, hence I need to target a much higher score (705 or above perhaps)

Your grades are good. Exposure to consulting and data science is also valuable. Would be helpful to know your undergrad college and the two firms. Given you would be competing with other applicants in the 2-3 year work ex range who generally have GMAT score towards a relatively higher side, you’re spot on in targeting a higher GMAT score. If you’re getting close to 705 in your mocks, that’s an excellent score to target, otherwise aim for at least 685+. Would help to know your post MBA aspirations and I’d strongly encourage you to think about any hobbies, side projects or engagements that could be used as extracurriculars in your application. Feel free to reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more comprehensive profile evaluation. Wish you the best for your GMAT and applications!

Decent grades, diverse extracurriculars to talk about in your application and client facing managerial role in a Big 4 along with Non-Engineering background are the core strengths of your profile. Your target GMAT score of 685+ also seems fair. In terms of your goals, impact consulting and impact investing are very nuanced fields so make sure you have enough evidence from your current work-ex to support the same. Ensure to build a strong narrative around your client facing experience with international exposure. You can always reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed conversation.

Which college? Which branch?

705+ would be extraordinary (and of course welcome); target at least a 685+.

Which college? It does matter, you know.

Learning Japanese and French can wait for a few months, GMAT can not. So, please see that you focus on getting your target score, in the next few months.

Good luck!
