Please evaluate my profile for ISB :

Gmat FE - 685
B.com (Hons) - 77.1%
12th - 93.4%
10th - 8.8CGPA

Work ex 4.5Y at BCN as a Specialist
Working with an international team with manager in the US
2 promotions, 1 fast track
Received "Star Award" for going above and beyond.

Extracurriculars, college :
Vice President of Placement Cell
Vice President of Entrepreneurship Cell
Team Lead for Consulting Club
Worked on multiple projects with e-cell
Excellent GMAT score, decent academics with Non-Engg background is going to help. Experience with BCN is valued by B-Schools and should give you enough anecdotes and learnings to discuss in your applications. Promotions and awards further add to the acknowledgement of your good performance at work. ECs are also decent - see if you wish to add anything more recent as well. Your post MBA goals aren’t mentioned so can’t comment on that. Overall a good profile, focus on building a strong application and you’ll have a good chance of getting an interview invite. All the best.

Hi folks!

I am facing a dilemma and need some help. I am working in Tech consulting and I am caught up between choosing a client side manager and the reporting manager (from my company)

In my current project. Our client has assigned us managers who give us tasks and supervise all our work. My client side manager works directly on a daily basis with me and has the best visibility of my work.

My reporting manager on the other hand works with the same client but in a different team. I don't work much with him. I just raise snapshots to him for appraisal. He takes inputs from the client for assessing performance.

The client side manager has the best insight into my work and would ideally be the right choice. However, some have suggested that taking recommendations from a client instead of a senior colleague from own firm may raise concerns.

Also, all the ISB site says about client recommendations is that one may take a recommendation from a client if one is in an entrepreneur or is in a family business.

Can someone guide me and help me resolve this dilemma? 🙏🏻Would really appreciate it!

Take the LOR from the one who can give specific inputs on your work and achievements. You can use the additional essay space you inform the adcoms of this unique reporting situation which may be specific to your case.

You can take it from the client, it's absolutely okay. And no need to mention in the optional essay..that has a different topic altogether.
Thanks!

Hi Aarchi123, The Personal branding strategist on LinkedIn is the stand out part in your profile. This involves letting yourself out and innovating. Startup experience is always valued. Its not clear though that what was your role in the start up apart from leading people. The acads is decent. Overall, you should target a GMAT of 675+. That will help. Once done with GMAT, you can focus on how all that you have done in past leads to what you want to do in future. Best Wishes.
Thank you so much!

TeamPreppie
Decent academics. Non-Engg background helps. Experience with startups and fast-track promotions will be highly valued - ensure to properly articulate relevant instances from this journey in the application. Double down on the personal branding strategist aspect as this can be the differentiator. Other ECs and LOR seem good. Given your tenure is < 3 years, target a 685+ to have a strong chance at converting ISB. All the best! Feel free to reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) if you wish to discuss any specific aspect in more detail.
Thank you for your inputs!

If you're looking to speak with someone from ISB who has navigated a career gap, we can definitely help. We run a platform that connects MBA aspirants with current ISB students and alums who’ve faced similar situations — including those with breaks in their careers.
✅ You can have a short 1-on-1 call with someone who’s been there and successfully converted ISB. It’s not counselling — just an honest, experience-based conversation.
The cost is ₹600 per call to keep it accessible.
If you're interested, feel free to DM me and I’ll help you connect with the right person.
Hope this helps, and all the best with your ISB journey!

Hi, I am trying to book my GMAT test centre slot for Wednesday afternoon but Pearson website is not completing the payment despite an eligible credit card. Is it a deadline that you can only book your slot before 48 hours or something like that?
