Hi Everyone!, I have recently quit my job (about 1 week) where i have work experience of about 51 months due to health issues of parents and joined family Business, my current scores are GMAT FE- 635 planning to retake since my target score is 695+ , wanted to just ask how changing job i.e. going to family business if would hurt my chances, also what all documents should i keep ready in order for the verification about work experience in family business? TIA!

It won’t hurt if you don’t think that it can

Explain it like a well planned transition and you are sorted.

Last year one of my candidates converted ISB in R3 with 2 years consulting experience and 2 years in family business.

With gmat score 625

Yes all details are correct and hence surprising but things works because we did our best to make them work 😀

That’s surprising but i guess ISB do appreciates if the story is true and not so glossy in comparison to a glossy and fake story. Hoping to bank on originality of essay. Thanks :)

If there is some similarity in the nature of your professional work experience and your family business, it would be easier to reconcile.

Hi Aashish121Gupta, You have performed well in your under-graduation in terms of awards and projects. Winning the biggest business management competition of Nepal is a stand out achievement. Having your own creative agency adds the entrepreneurial credentials. I think your target GMAT score is well aligned. However, if you can plan for test in late November instead of mid December, then probably you can apply in R2 instead of R3 in ISB. (Assuming your total work ex is 1.8 years + 5 months > 2 years). Best Wishes.

Hi aboobna, Significant number of applicants, who have changed job into largely unrelated fields, get selected every year. Thats not a concern. Just stick to what you have actually done, that helps more people than creating unnecessary "career trajectory" stories. You can keep ITR, balance sheet (if maintained) or some sort of declaration handy when you reach to the stage of document verification. Best Wishes.
