I have a similar profile but I had 665 last year and couldnt get into ISB so taking a reattempt and reapplying this year. I know people with similar profile and our work ex range with 695 and couldnt get into ISB last year.

So ISB you need a big jump for sure.

Not applied anywhere else but I think you can take a shot at SPJIMR.
Did you receive interview call with that score?

Hello. Im a dentist with 4.5 years work exp in dental clinics and as a medical advisor for an insurance company.
I’m a re applicant. I applied last year with a 670 Classic and got denied without an interview.
Took 2 attempts after that and scored 595 focus and finally a 665 Focus. Balanced percentiles in all sections.
Today, I spoke with a senior admissions and financial aid manager at ISB via their application feedback facility. She seemed very optimistic about my chances now and seemed encouraging. She said the only thing lagging last year for me was my GMAT and that I missed out by a fractional margin.
Changes from last year to this year:
1) gmat 670 classic to 665 focus
2) work experience gained by one more year
2) started an Instagram fitness page where u post 3x a day about tips and shared my body transformation journey (how to get a 6pack abs and such) @danishfitness
3) started a book review blog where I’m posting weekly about my favourite non fiction blogs
However, their latest report says class average GMAT is 669 and median is 675.
I’m worried if I can push my score soon and I’m worried about the very high cost of taking the exam again.
But I obviously want to make it to ISB this year
Suggestions please?? Thank you!!

*Profile Summary:*
1. Scored 91.2% in Class 10 (CBSE)
2. Scored 92.0% in Class 12 (CBSE - PCM stream)
3. Completed B.Tech from IIT Dhanbad with a CGPA of 8.77/10.00
4. Have 3 to 4 years of work experience as a Consultant in a Big 4 firm (Advisory role)
5. Worked from 2020 to 2022, and then from 2024 to present
6. Took a 2-year career break (2022–2024) to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination
7. Additional experiences include: NGO involvement, Guitarist, Media Club participation

*Will my 2-year career break for UPSC preparation be seen as a disadvantage in MBA admissions at ISB? If so, what GMAT score would be considered strong enough to offset this?*

You’ve already received the feedback from the one place you needed to hear it back from! If they really did say that GMAT was the only thing holding you back and if it in fact was fractional, you have your answer.

Although I think score can still be pushed. Still what are you looking for as suggestions

Any chance you have some volunteer work experience for those two years?

Nothing at all? Non-profit involvement, freelance stuff like tutoring, mentorship etc., or influencer work (insta/fb/industry blogs etc.)? In a formal capacity?

Okay that freelance JEE mentorship thing can be used as a mild patchwork to eliminate the gap.

Overall, might be a risky profile to let in for ISB, I’d broaden my options unless you have some special privileges that can influence the admissions team. The recommended score is 98th percentile if possible. Generally I recommend 685+

You can look up the topics for 2026 intake on ISB’s website.

It’s pretty much the same as the last year’s

Hi everyone,
I’m very new to this MBA thing but-
Profile summary -
10th- 10 CGPA (W/O upgradation)
12th -95 % PCB
BDS degree -7. 89 CGPA (3.24/4)
plus full scholarship based on rank every year, done in 2024 November
Published 3 papers including one in pubmed
Working as a teaching assistant in a dental college since November

Haven’t given gmat yet....

Should I apply for MIM this year if I do manage to get a score around 695? Or do I wait for two years for mba?
