has any waitlisted person received admit/reject post April 2?
Per previous chats on the forums no waitlisted candidate has received an update. Are you saying there were converts from WL on 2nd April?

I was wondering how does the wait list process work? If R1 waitlist results will be announced on 20th April and R2/R3 WL results by 15th May, then does it mean:

A) R1 candidates get some priority over R2/R3 candidates? The worst R2 candidate could be better than the best R1 candidate, so do R1 get priority or are all WL candidates compared with each other and the batch?

B) if R1 candidates do not get priority, then is there a possibility that on 20th April, R1 rejects will be given the results, and others will be told that final WL result will be out on 15th May, along with R2 and R3 WL results? What I am trying to say is, is it possible that the process works like this:

1. Make a complete list of WL cnadidates from each round. This is now possible since interview are almost complete. Assign each candidate a total score based on the different aspects of their applications - Test Scores, Interview, Essay, LOR, Work Ex etc
2. Assign a cutoff score based on the candidates already admitted and decide who are the rejected candidates from the complete WL.
3. On 20th April, send the rejected candidates from R1 (who fell below the cutoff) emails telling them they will not be considered for admission.
4. For R1 candidates who cleared the cutoff, tell them you are further waitlisted.
5. Now you have a list of candidates from R1, R2 and R3 who cleared the cutoff.
6. On 15th May, send all candidates their final mails - rejected from R2 and R3, and admitted from R1, R2, R3. Admits to be based on clearing cutoff and how you fit into the dynamics of the already admitted students.

A makes sense if R1 candidates have a priority over R2/R3 candidates. B makes sense if all WL candidates are to be evaluated irrespective of their application round.

BlandRhetoric, There is no means to draw justification for the way the admission process has happened this time. Hence we are only left with the option to wait till results.

I have a feeling they may extend the 20 April deadline given the current situation. They may want to wait and see how the situation evolves and then give an answer on the waitlist. Else they may end up with empty seats this year. But let’s wait 2 more days :)
