Not really. Kellogg's interview email mentioned: In response to your request for an off-campus interview, we have matched you with an alumni interviewer. Please contact the alumnus to schedule and complete the interview within 14 days of receipt of this email.

Kellogg told me who the alumnus was in my area and how should I go about contacting my interviewer.

So, I was supposed to contact my interviewer to schedule a particular time slot in the next 14 days.

Not really. Kellogg's interview email mentioned: In response to your request for an off-campus interview, we have matched you with an alumni interviewer. Please contact the alumnus to schedule and complete the interview within 14 days of receipt of this email.

Kellogg told me who the alumnus was in my area and how should I go about contacting my interviewer.

So, I was supposed to contact my interviewer to schedule a particular time slot in the next 14 days.

Interessssting. I am off-campus too! Just hadn't heard anything other than the initial you'll hear something 4-6 weeks after submitting. I also come from the 2nd or 3rd biggest areas for their alumnus if I had to guess. Wonder if that makes any difference.

Either way, appreciate the insight.

Engr2012,

Do you mind me asking from what region you are applying? I've heard that Kellogg tends to send interview invites to international applicants first, and I wanted to validate whether or not that is true.

Dont worry. Kellogg invites almost all for interview. So you might get your email tomorrow.

Funny thing is that Kellogg mentions : " Interview Waiver
Due to the high demand for interviews and limited availability of interviewers, you may receive an interview waiver. Waivers will not have a negative impact on your candidacy."

So if you are "lucky" enough to not have your interview scheduled, relax and spend your time on some other school prep.

I am embarrassed to call myself "internationally" located. I am in Canada btw. So yeah technically "international" but not that far from Kellogg.

Also, Kellogg email did mention about a "matching system" for alumni vs interviewees so that as well might play a role in determining when do you end up getting an invite.

Oh my god!!! Guys, unlike me, I hope you're not stupid enough to not put your phone on silent!!!!

During the 20-second between the question and the actual response, the damn cellphone blares!! Thank god it was close to me and I shut it off immediately but it shook me enough to not think about a proper response to the question! So f-ing annoying!!!

Anyway.

Questions were:

1. If time and money were not a constraint, what would you be doing right now? (My answer was probably 20 seconds long because I was too flustered from the damn call)
2. Standard one.

Hey guys! Finally did it!
Well, the first question was not in the list of questions that I had, so surprise, it was something like
1. "what hobby or activity you enjoy, and why are you drawn to it?"
2. Standard one.

So, FYI during first question, somewhere around 20s in, I got a message on top of my video! I was trying to look at the cam, but had to check if it's some issue. Turns out it was "Your video is recording, press 'space' to cancel", unfortunately that distracted me and I lost a few more seconds trying to get back on track. So be ready for that and don't get distracted.

Overall, finally I'm done! Does anybody know if they have iterviews in Moscow or I am likely to receive a waiver?

Done with my video essay questions:


1. If you could travel to the past or to the future to witness an event, which one would it be and why?
2. The standard one.

I did face a trouble in the microphone settings in my apple laptop. Thus, I had to switch to another laptop with a windows operating system. So, if you are having an apple laptop with a Mac Os X operating system and have scheduled it for the last minute, keep a back up ready! So, that you can be calm and give a fantastic response :)

I definitely psyched myself out for this one. It was pretty smooth and natural. My first question was, "what your favorite TV show?" I kind of ran out of meaningful things to say so I only took 40 seconds. Hope that doesn't hurt me. Best of luck to all the applicants!

I have not received an interview invite yet. I am based in California (as evidence by my ever so slightly douchy name). Hopefully it comes soon!

Received my off-campus interview invite within 24 hours, and scheduled the in-person for this weekend. Excited to meet my interviewer!
