Thanks Nervous...:) I am not sure if I should be optimistic as Kellogg seems to be MUCH tougher in R2. Lot more dings than admits thus far. Oh well...should find out soon :)

Thank dosa, nervous. K ding really hurts since I have became involved with K over the past year.

Kellogg seems to be MUCH tougher in R2

I am wondering about this too. I know someone who has almost identical stat with me and applied in R1 and got in. My bro, who is 2nd year student at K, has worst stat than me and got in R1 when he applied. And both of them reviewed my essays. So I concluded it is the interview, but I will never know.

R1 typically is the easiest round at all schools. They say R1 and 2 are equal but if you look they really arent. I think its the increase in apps this year which is making it more difficult.

yeah, now I'm expecting a ding... there are already two others with very similar profiles who applied in R1 and both got in. Even though mine may be a little bit stronger, I don't think they'll take a 3rd with this much competition...

When I contacted my interviewer after getting the Kellogg Ding, he said he didn't have any feedback for me as he thought I did the interview very well.

Personally, I don't think the interview plays a decision-changing role in all this, unless one makes some nasty remarks in the interview.

So I concluded it is the interview, but I will never know.

kryzak, stop freaking out!!! Seriously :) I know it's funny for me to say that since I was admitted and since I was freaking out just like you are now 3 months ago. First of all, you application is going to be read by various students and admissions people. The likelihood that the same people who read the applications of your friends in R1 are going to read yours is VERY small. Secondly, do you really think that admitting 3 people with similar background is going to have a big impact on the diversity of Kellogg's class size of 600+ people?
Calm down and think positive thoughts. Remember how I was one of the last few people admitted right before Christmas when river heard about his decision before Thanksgiving? The end result is still the same: both river and I are in!
At DAK I met a guy who got his admit call at 5PM on Jan 7. January 7 was the decisions deadline!!! You have a lot of time to get admitted. You WILL be admitted. My crystal ball dont lie ;)

Haha, thanks Nervous, that vote of confidence did help! :) Yeah, I'm not really "freaking" out per se, but I just want this to be over, one way or the other, so I can finally sit down and make my decision (and see if I need to ask Haas to postpone the deposit deadline to attend DAK II).

I just hope I'm not the last one to get the call, since that doesn't leave me much time to plan other things...

Question for you Kellogg applicants/admits...

I am taking the risky approach by applying in R3 for the 1Y program. I submitted part 1 on Jan 26th and I have read that I should hear back on my interview details (off-campus, I live in Shanghai) about six weeks later. Where/how to they contact you regarding your interview? Will they email me or just post details on my application status after logging in?

Thanks for your help!

I'm sure it won't hurt you. Definitely a positive sign that they invited you so early! Let's hope they roll out some good news today...

A friend of mine was accepted to Kellogg's 1-year program yesterday. Not sure how that decision relates to the timing of the 2-year program decisions. He went to college with me (top 5 undergrad b-school based on B-Week's recent rankings :-D), 690 GMAT, i-banker. Since he was accepted to the 1-year program I know that this info could be completely useless to all of you 2-year applicants, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Hey guys-

Further scrutinizing my financial aid package. What's the difference between a need-based and optional-based Grad PLUS Loans? They're not separated in the glossary and the interest rate appears the same. Googled around and can't find much either.

I had the same question actually. I might call Julie to find out first-hand if there is any difference. She is always very helpful in answering questions.
