Dont know about the hotel, there are a lot of decent options in the area depending on your budget. A great source of reviews is tripadvisor.com
I am not going into IB but from a discussion I was part of at DAK recruiting in that field is very strong and there isnt as much competition since there far fewer folks are going into it. A second year who was a career switcher interned and was going to GS fulltime. He said that a lot of folks are career switchers since bankers typically choose schools like Wharton, GSB, and Columbia. However, he did say people with prior experience do have an advantage like at all schools but there are far fewer. He pretty much said if you want an IB job and put the effort in you will score a good job. ***not sure how it will be for the next year or two but that is true at every school***

As for the financial aid, guys honestly I would definitely not let that play any roll in your decision. I emailed a couple students I talked to and asked them about it. They said yes there are a couple people who arent the nicest folks in the office but the rest are great and you learn who to talk to if you have questions. I guess right now they are super busy since all the R1 and R2 admits and current first years are all submitting their forms, so the stress may be getting to a few of them. I was also told that you really have very limited interactions.
I guess they have some students on the planning committee for the building. That would be an interesting gig. I am curious whose name is gonna be on the side of this building and how much its going to set that person back.

I stayed at the Margarita Inn when I interviewed last October and I will be staying there again for DAKII in a few weeks. It is a very quaint, character hotel which I usually prefer over the big chains. The staff were extremely nice and helpful and they have a continental breakfast in their huge common room area in the morning. I stayed in a room with a shared bath but didn't see anyone on my floor the 2 days I stayed there. I think it was about a 10-15min walk to Kellogg and a very short walk from the El but I enjoyed the walk to see a bit of Evanston. At $79/night I would recommend it. There is also a nice restaurant downstairs but I didn't try it out.

. I'll probably choose that option though since I am not too picky about things like that and am trying to save money.
