Dinged for JD/MBA program

Off to a good start!

sorry to hear. that's weird considering the adcom blog that said jd/mba applicants won't hear until after the new year. i wonder what that means for the rest of us.

Just got the rejection e-mail. Fairly dejected at this exact moment since this was where I really (REALLY! REALLY!) wanted to go. But since I feel like I've benefitted from the site without ever posting, felt like this was as good a time as any for the inaugural post.

Not sure if this helps anyone, but here is my profile: GMAT 720, 3.3 GPA from Top 25 school, 30 yrs, nontraditional background (non-prof), US applicant.

Also got rejected from Booth without an interview. I was going to apply R2 to Wharton, but now I wonder if there's much of a point. I'd imagine if I can't get an interview at Booth, and can't get on a waitlist at Kellogg, that applying to Wharton is kind of idiotic. Was also thinking Duke or Yale for R2; now those also seem like stretches. Just wondering whether constant rejection is even worth it.

admission process is truly a black box, so I would balance your school selection (add one or two safety school, but has to be ones that you would still want to attend), and go full speed ahead with Wharton, Duke or Yale if you feel passionate about their programs. I've heard all kinds of stories with people getting into H/W/S rejected at other M7 or even lower ranked schools. So anything is possible! Don't lose hope! and really focus on improving your apps

Dinged for JD/MBA program

Sorry to hear that but don't lose hope. The fact that you received interview invites from all those schools in your signature means that you're an exceptionally strong candidate. Good luck the rest of this week, don't let this one ding get you down.

To all R1 dings: keep your heads up!!!

I will be applying R2 to Kellogg with my paltry 690 GMAT but I believe the greatest strength of man is hope. You have to believe in yourself and do it. Like someone said, just because you got dinged at one place does not mean you are automatically dinged at another!

Yes, the sting of it is much more a fear of my chances at the other three schools, rather than some dejection that I can't go to Northwestern.

Usually doesn't bode well when you're one of the first known* dings at your "backup" school.

*specifically referencing the JD/MBA program

I know exactly how you feel . . . I didn't feel more strongly about Kellogg than the other schools that I applied to, but getting dinged is making me second guess everything that I did for those places (interviews, essays, etc.) Even though the waiting will be over soon, it's been extra hard with getting a ding first.

Good luck on your other decisions though, you've got quite the lineup left!

Hey,

Received the acceptance email a couple of hours ago as well.

Male, 2Y MBA, Off-campus interview on 11/23 in Mumbai, 5 years WE, 3.7 GPA, 790 GMAT (51 V, 49 Q).

While I haven't posted all that much, I've been perusing the forums for a couple of months now, gleaning a wealth of information from this incredibly supportive community.

I guess I just wanted to say thanks, and that I'm happy to help in any way I can.

Good luck!
