I think that they will notify you to see whether you are interested in remaining on the summer waitlist. At least that is what the FAQs stated. I can't say that they've really followed those, however.

Thank you, are you still waiting for Kellogg? Have you got any seat from others?

For me, I still got nth , still waiting for Wharton and Kellogg

For those still waiting, who's your WL manager?

Mine is Jessica Seymour. I haven't heard anything but don't want to keep calling after I already left a message.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter who your WL manager is - they're basically just given a list of students to manage. I would wait for Kellogg to contact you regarding your intentions to remain on the summer WL. They've already said that is the procedure in the FAQs, and so I would follow that procedure. Otherwise, you're risking being annoying.

I know it's nerve-racking, but it's better than being dinged. If you haven't heard from them in a week, I would suggest submitting a small update, updating them on your intention to go to school there.

MBwAit, appreciate your advice. I just got all excited about May 11th (which Kellogg wrote into their own FAQs), and now I'm coming up with all kinds of theories on why I haven't heard back

What are the forum's thoughts on notifying Kellogg and letting them know that I have been accepted to another school? It technically is an update - I just don't know whether it would help or hurt.

In my opinion, updating the school on acceptance to a competing school should not hurt. If you are on the border line, they might as well take you than to lose you to a competing school. I had updated them on acceptance to another school, but it has not helped my case so far.

Someone else on this forum had a viewpoint on Kellogg being a "fit" school more than anything and getting accepted to another school does not really help this cause. I kind of agree to his thoughts also.

But overall it is a "significant" update and helps you communicate with your manager.

I agree that it is significant, but I see it in two ways:

1) It's a lower ranked school and they know they're the better of the two - so it doesn't really "hurt" them as much as say getting into a H/S/W would. This leads to a denial, or more waiting.

2) It shows that you are wanted at another place, and pressures them slightly to move faster if they really like you. This leads to an admit.

I'm debating on these two different scenarios. Personally, I do not know how schools perceive candidates leveraging other acceptances.

If you happen to get in touch with your waitlist manager on phone it might be worthwhile discussing this admit and any impending deadline. If you are on top of their list and they will admit you next month , they might as well admit you now. I can't imagine them changing their procedures and boosting someone up the waitlist because of another admit. They cannot formally verify or ask for such admits as that will set a standard and they will end up admitting students accepted to other schools rather than worrying about fit to their school and the class profile.

I did send them the formal acceptance letter with my update email, just in case to show them that the admit is for real.

I'm a R2 waitlister, still awaiting an update like a number of us on this forum.

In my opinion, it is wishful thinking to believe that Kellogg's adcom will be influenced by your acceptance to another school. I'd even go so far as to say that it is a mistake to even mention this fact because the only reason you would do so would be to put pressure on them to admit you - and I do not think the adcom will respond favorably to any attempts at being pressured. There is a long line of people who will gladly take your place. They are solely focused on picking the best candidates to round out the incoming class - and in doing so on their timetable. If you have to make a decision about another school before knowing your final status at Kellogg, that is tough for you, but the adcom really doesn't care. In addition, it really isn't a significant update for the adcom. It's significant to you the applicant, but for the adcom they're focused on your accomplishments (work promotions, extracurriculars, etc.) and what value you would bring to Kellogg.

Pramodpg's idea about casually raising it over the phone would probably be the best way to handle it if you're going to do so.

This is all my opinion/speculation, so take that for what it's worth.

Good luck to everyone. I just removed myself from the waitlist (got accepted off the Booth w/l). Take hope in the fact that the waitlist just got a little shorter.

Nah, I'm asking if others have - encouraging them to be forthcoming because there are so many things riding on the summer WL decision, i.e. deposits, housing at other schools, etc.

Haven't heard anything one way or another. I spoke to my waitlist contact last week and she said they plan on sending extended waitlist emails out, but hadn't done so as of that time.

If I don't hear of anything by the middle of June, I'll probably pull my WL status. I haven't reached out to my manager yet - I don't think it will help, or hurt - just trying to exercise some patience. Personally, I'm from a typically over-represented group so I doubt I have an incredible shot.
