I certainly appreciate the fact that Kellogg allows updates and even allows people to get direct feedback from a WL manager. Believe me I don't take it for granted. But to give absolutely no words about the result is simply beyond imagination.
At least tell people "150 of you are competing for 15 spots in three weeks", or "you are on a reduced list now and we'll get back to you in mid-July", don't just give a timeline (a specific date of May 11th, for that matter) and say nothing for a week after you missed it.
If I miss a deadline at work, I send an update immediately explaining the situation, and set new expectations (e.g. "although we are behind, we expect to finish the project in a month"). Hiding from people is never a good thing to do.
