In for R2. Submitted my app on Friday and had my interview on Friday as well.

Sorry to jump the gun. Just wondering when do we start hearing from them about final decisions.

Thanks

I'm not sure but I wouldn't hold my breath. Final decisions for R1 were released only three-ish weeks ago.

By the way, if you interviewed off campus, did you submit Part 1 ahead of the Dec 14th deadline? I submitted my application right on the deadline and haven't heard from them yet...

Could you kindly share your interview experience? Was it on-campus? With adcom or alumni/current student?
Good luck!

Thanks,

I submitted my part 1 couple of days before 14th Dec, heard about interview in late December.

Interview:
Alumni, off campus.
Duration: 1hr 10min
Questions:
- Why Kellogg?
- Why now?
- Plans post MBA?
- What do you do outside of work?
- How will you contribute to your classmates?

Overall very conversational, the alumni was very friendly and we connected well.

Thanks
Nath

The Tuck interview seemed to accept teamwork/leadership examples from extracurriculars, undergraduate classes, and work experience. It seems as if Kellogg gears most of these questions toward recent/current work experience, with less emphasis on other experiences. Do you guys agree with this?

Thanks, Nath! If you could hold your own for over an hour, you must have done pretty well.

mbarealestate, I think you're right. During my campus visit, the Admissions lady kind of underplayed the need for extracurriculars when she was talking about what they value at Kellogg. She stressed how much they value work experience and said something like "If you have significant ECs that's great but if not, that's fine too. Just explain to us what kind of ECs you would be interested at Kellogg and why."

The fact that Kellogg has a reputation of being an "older" school (folks with more work ex) kinds of fits in with this as well.

Ok so my referee just told me that he submitted his recommendation. But I didn't receive an email from Kellogg confirming the same. Did you guys get an email when your referee submitted his recommendation?

Finally got my interview invite!!

Congrats! Based on my Kellogg interview, the questions were straightforward (as others here have said), so if you know your stories and can work "Why Kellogg" throughout, you should be in good shape!

I also got my interview invite. International location. Now I'm debating if I contact the interviewer to schedule in our language (portuguese) or in english. In english might seems like I'm being geeky or too formal. In Portuguese it might seem like I'm being too formal or not respectful of the process. Any thoughts?

I just read a WSJ article related to this the other day:
https://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204368104577139031236229636.html?mod=WSJ_WSJ_Careers_EXECUTIVEMBARANKINGS5_2
A quote from the article:
Quote:
But they do express concern over whether a foreign alum and candidate will conduct an interview in English. The candidate might be engaging and insightful in their native tongue, only to arrive on campus unable to read the orientation material, admissions officers say.

Some business schools are changing their approach to admissions interviews, pulling back from using alumni to screen applicants and opting instead for Skype or having staffers travel far and wide. Melissa Korn explains why on The News Hub.

"If you get two French people in a room and ask them to speak English together, it's just not going to happen," says Graham Richmond, CEO and co-founder of admissions consulting firm Clear Admit LLC.

You could write your email in english and quote this article if it ever comes up in the interview. It will make you seem aware and well-read ;) (not to say you aren't already) Boa sorte!

It seems like everyone gets interviewed at Kellogg, right? So formality, I'd say.

Yes, I decided to write in english. BUT, every alumni I've had so far have started with english only to switch to portuguese after the first question... Common responses: "Ok, your englishis better than mine".

It's cultural. I don't ever see Brazilians following the guidelines by the book... They did 'test' my english though. Which is better than nothing. That's why I'm concerned over the email, knowing that Brazilians are normally more casual people.
