I think Kellogg is a great school. I am planning to apply to Kellogg for R2. Appearing for GMAT soon. Could you all please share your interview experiences ? How would you guys rate kellogg when compared to similar league schools like Booth, Columbia, MIT, Duke ?
regards,
Datta
Hi Datta,
Kellogg PART II R2 deadline is 10th Jan. Hope you will sort out our GMAT by then. When are you planning on giving your GMAT? Well there are different ways of comparing schools and there are a lot of online surveys that do this, ex: FT Rankings, etc. But, the real question is what is it that you want to do in a B-School. What would be your concentration? Booth, Columbia, MIT, etc are all as good in some way or the other. You need to pay attention to the kind of profiles that these schools attract before applying. If you believe you have a Marketing experience or you have experiences that justify your prefernce for Marketing, Kellogg is the best place for you. Having said that, you must also look at the other parameters like: No of international students enrolled in previous years, pre MBA work experience (industry), average GMAT (I think international students should target a GMAT score of Avg + 10 to be safe).
If you are from IT background, always remember that you will be competing against other IT folks only, and not people from Marketing, Manufacturing, Banking, etc. Since most of the good universities have a diversity concept, they will try and make sure that they take in people from all spheres (as much as possible). So don't worry if you are from IT, just make sure that you have enough material in your package! I started off as a software engineer, and now I am an Associate Consultant with a GMAT score of 700. I would suggest that you give in your best and leave the rest to destiny.
PM me if you want to discuss any specific points

Thanks a lot SR85 ... your words are encouraging... i will go ahead and apply to Kellogg. I think I will get back in touch with you when I am done with my GMAT (no point talking without having a solid score). With your kind of experience, I am sure that Kellogg will take you without a doubt. BTW how was your interview experience ? What questions were asked ? Anything particular that you felt about the interview process ?
