for everyone interviewing, are we supposed to wait to be contacted by our regional representative, or are we to email them to try and arrange the interview? I wasn't clear on that based on the email and discussion on this forum...

I've got an invite yesterday 21.50 GMT. Got it to the one email I check the least, because it's the generic company's email. Have no idea where they got it from. Been quite freaked out prior to that.
I had the same. Actually the company administrator learnt before I did :)

Admission team will follow up in several days to confirm your interview preferences and will send you a contact details of interviewer in another several days. Then you shall contact the interviewer to agree on details (time, place, etc.)

This was for R1, guess its same now.

Hi all, my interview invite said that LBS needs up to 2 weeks to match me with my interviewers. In your experiences, how soon are they able to follow up with your interviewers, and how soon are interviewers usually available to interview? I'd like to complete my interview in the next 2 weeks since I have an acceptance to another school that requires deposit/contract by March 6.

I know LBS doesn't do rolling admissions, but would they make an exception if you're on a deadline with another school?

Usually, it doesn't matter how fast you finish the interview, the decision will be released on relevant deadline (26 March in this case).
Not sure whether the admission team makes an exception for you

Has anyone ever asked the interviewer for a decision on the day - do you get a feel for if you got in or not for people who have been through this process before?

I really do not like the idea of asking an interviewer for feedback straight away. After my LBS interview, which out of the interviews I have had was the most pleasant, my interviewer told me that he would highly recommend me.

Hope that helps!

Moreover, interviewer's feedback will not be the only deciding factor. It is just one of the many data points a school would refer to. So asking his feedback may not be very helpful. Writing a gratitude email, as most of us do, soon after the interview would rather be more effective.

It did not take them 2 weeks to match me with my interviewer -- depends on the region you are in and how many LBS alumni are available to interview then. They also try and match you with someone with a similar background and/or pursuing a career path that you want so that you can have a good conversation with them, so this process takes a little longer than usual.

Once they email you the details of the interviewer, its totally between you two to set the date -- you can interview the very next day if it works for the interviewer.

Not sure they will make an exception, but you can try mailing them. Again not sure if telling them to hurry up about their decision since u need to inform another school is a great idea either -- tough situation to be in for sure.

Got an invite too - is anyone in London so we can meet and bash ideas off each other and do some interview prep together?

I am, and would be keen to. Anywhere in Central London on a weekend beforehand would suit me.

FROM LBS Current Students Blog: #LifeAtBusinessSchool : How do I make money?
When I heard this question I used to think, no way is someone going to be me a concise straightforward answer on how this can be done. I mean, it’s too good to be true. Why would someone tell me how to make money rather than just go out and do it himself?

Actually I think there is a paradox- all of us know how to make money, yet very few of us actually go out and do it.

Back to the question, how do I make money? Actually it’s pretty simple, you just need a couple of things:

i)                    Give customers something they want

ii)                   Make sure price is higher than costs

Now most people think it stops here. This is what separates those who make enough money to get by, and those who make a decent sum of cash.

Before I tell you what the third and final condition is, let’s consider an example. Imagine there is an empty place near where you’re favourite concert is being held. After the concert everyone is dead thirsty. This gives you an idea. You can set up a drinks stand and start selling water. The people need it, water is pretty cheap and you can sell it to them for more than how much you bought it. Both conditions are satisfied.

But what’s the problem with this? Just take moment to think.

The problem is that someone else can see you doing this, and very easily set up a stand and do the exact same thing, taking your profits. Eventually as more people move into the market, your profits tend to 0.

But what if you had a SPECIAL type of drink that could quench thirst better than any of the other drinks available at a much lower cost? This leads me on to the third point

iii)                 Make sure what you give them cannot be provided by anyone else

This is the most important point that a lot of people forget about. Consider Uber. There were hundreds of apps that did exactly what Uber did when it entered the market. But now Uber is the market leader. Why? It’s a phone app like all the others. What is it about Uber that the others cannot do?

The answer is Uber’s pricing algorithm. Uber has access to data and can process that data with an algorithm that no one else can match. None of the other apps have such a good pricing algorithm and it is difficult for them to make one without a huge investment both in physical and human capital.

So whenever you’re thinking how do I make money and have a new business idea; before you start thinking into the business plan, model, details, etc. Answer the three questions first. Do customers want this, can I charge a price higher than costs and will someone else be able to enter and steal my customers.

For those who haven't received interview invites yet, do reach out to your region's admissions manager or the adcom's general e-mail ID? I had the same issue in R1. I was frantically waiting for an update on Fri (interview notification day) and I didn't get any. I immediately sent an e-mail to the admissions team and they replied on Mon, mentioning that the delay was because of a technical reason (new IT system etc.). I was invited to the interview on Tue and eventually admitted. I know that the wait can be nerve-wracking, but do not give up yet. Also, I know of at least another person who didn't get an update on interview notification date.

Bully,

Swati and I also have not received emails (personal / work).
Could you please let us know where you are from?
And whether you could access your application details from "My Profile" in LBS website?

Thanks.

I'm from the Philippines. I can access my details in the LBS website although nothing has changed. Maybe they are not yet done sending out all emails :?:

Hi Guys,

Has anyone tried contacting Admission Comittee of LBS? I sent them an e-mail, but no replies as yet.

Thanks,
Swati

I did call the corresponding officer for my region - she picked up the phone and was very helpful.
