Hope everyone is doing well. Less than 10 days left for R2 app submission deadline; How are your essays coming along, guys?

Had some time on this weekend so I did a quick analysis of R1 admission trend at LBS this year... Looks like acceptance rate of R1 has increased quite a bit. Around 24.8% applicants have been admitted to LBS this year in R1; Historically it has been around 17%.

As expected, avg GMAT and GPA of admits are higher than those of overall application pool; however, work experience of admits is actually lower. I think it;s because of reporting bias. Any thoughts?

LBS R1 Stats (GMATClub Users)
Avg GMATAvg GPAWork Experience (in Months)
Overall7193.414.78
Admitted7263.763.5
Denied/Waitlisted7153.325.07

Any thoughts, comments are most welcome. Do let us know how you are approaching essays and other parts of the application.

Applying in R2 as well.

Just a question - is 3.1 GPA too low for an admit? I have a GMAT of 750 though.

Also how many of those who got in reached out to other alumni/members of clubs etc? Did anyone of you go for campus visits too?

Merry x-mas!

Well my GPA is 3.2, but there isn't a direct correlation between my home uni and UK GPA. Still, 750 GMAT can vouch for you (have 730 and got in on R1). Don't forget though, that some people have already been admitted so the criteria will be more selective on this round (not that you should feel stressed about your scores, I would feel pretty confident with those stats).

I got contacted by my country track out of the blue, but was already in interview process (I think AdCom gave the lists of prospective students a bit too late). Just had drinks with current alumni here in PT, seemed cool guys. I also went to the campus visit (was already going to London by chance) before getting admitted and the one after getting admitted - it was interesting, you get to know some of your potential classmates there and learn a bit more about the program and school.

Congrats on getting in! Yes I am hoping the 750 overrides the lowly GPA. In addition I do have a few other good things in my profile a) sold my startup b) a VERY international life ... so hoping that overrides this negative.

On the LBS application though it asks if you have spoken to other LBS students / visited the LBS campus. I did visit the LBS campus in mid 2015 but didnt attend any event. Was wondering if that is worth putting on the application?

I have spoken to some LBS current and previous students who I am going to put on my profile. Btw, on your campus visit did you get to speak with any faculty as well?

What are you going to be specializing your MBA in?

Cheers

I would say don't worry about your GPA, won't be what gets you out for sure. I didn't mention my visit to LBS campus on the application but did use it on the interview. In the campus visit I got to talk with some of the people from AdCom and some alumni (they track who attended, so if you can get yourself to an event while you're still applying, it won't get you in for sure, but will be positive).

I'm going for entrepreneurship, innovation and VC, because I have a background on VC and want to join one of the bigger funds. However, keeping my mind opened to what LBS can show me.

Haven't received any message from adcoms after submitting my application, just system reply. Do they communicate after the round deadline or only when interview decision is released?

Hello everyone,

I am in process of applying for 2nd round.
Can you tell when whether should I to convert my under-grad score into US/UK GPA system in the online application?
For e.g. if I have a GPA of 9/10, what should i put in the application?

Appreciate help on this.

Thanks

Sure, GPA at LBS goes from 0 to 4, and usually for American Schools, GP hits 0 if you get below 65% (from what I read). Here you have the same conversion table I used:

https://www.fulbright.org.uk/pre-departu ... mics/marks

(It's at the end of the page)

Thank you Silva.

Hi everyone,
I applied for Round 2 on the 4th of Jan. However, I have not received any communication from the school except for an automatic email. Has anyone been assigned to an admission officer ? or received any communication from the school?
Thanks.

It has been the same for me. Just the automated e-mail. I guess that is how it works. Now the next would be directly notification if one has been selected for the interview.
