Hi shivshambhu441 Hope this finds you well. You have a seemingly decent profile, and I've got to say the GMAT score is very impressive. Please keep two important things in mind from the application's perspective:

  1. Things that may seem obvious to you may not be so clear to the reader. For example, you might think that "Preparing the Transfer Policy for Defence Civilians under MoD for the first time" is easily understood by readers here on GMATclub. However, that's not the case. Unless you explain why this achievement is significant, who this impacted and how, most similar points you shared will fall flat in trying to impress the admissions officer. I've seen many people from public/govt sector backgrounds share only their responsibilities. It's important to clarify that responsibilities alone don't carry weight unless you explain their impact.
  2. You completely missed telling us your goals and why you're considering LBS or the EU schools as targets. Without that information, it's challenging to assess your candidacy. From my experience, transitioning from the public sector to the private sector in a new country, function, and industry isn't straightforward. If you've already explored these reasons for applying, then you likely believe you'd be a good fit for LBS. Please look at the first essay in the LBS question which is entirely regarding your research on the school.

    Reach out for advice

    Best wishes

Hello Aishna,

I’m a London Business Graduate and alumni interviewer.

The deadlines aren’t out yet, but round 1 deadline is likely to be around October 5.

In the last year, we had 14+ admits to LBS early careers alone. Feel free to reach out to me on +919971444312 or via email at info@uniadvise.in for suggestions on how to strategise the application.

shivshambhu441 - Some thoughts and clarifications on your profile:

1. The GPA isn't ideal, but the GMAT (and rest of the profile) can help compensate to an extent. LBS might overindex the GPA, but a strong narrative can help here.

2. Would like to understand your professional arc better i.e. key achievements, skill-sets picked up, transferable skills, etc.? Also, what are your career goals post-MBA i.e. target sectors/ functions/ geographies? It'd be crucial to have a strong narrative linking your work-ex to your goals and how/ why an MBA and your particular target school fits in. Also have a good mix of Ambitious and Reach/ Safe programs, based on key factors such as these

3. Extracurriculars present interesting angles, which can (and should) be used well in essays and interviews!

For a deepdive of the LBS MBA program, check out here. For more insights on the top European programs, check out here

Hope this helps.

RSL1998 - some more details would help answer:

- what was your GPA in undergrad, and which university did you attend?
- was your GMAT FE split balanced?
- did you score similar to your mocks, or was there a delta? If latter, can you improve it through a retake?

For MBA programs, your work-ex (2 years) is a bit on the lower side, but the strength of your work-ex, ECA's and overall narrative can help assess your overall profile better.

If you haven't already, it's good to reach out to Adcom with your profile to seek their thoughts on your profile as well.

Hey, RSL1998

A GMAT score of 685 is generally considered a solid score. However, to provide you with the best advice regarding your application strategy, I have some questions about your profile.

What was your GPA or percentage?
Do you have any other academic qualifications, such as certifications or postgraduate degrees?
What specific role do you hold at PwC?
What key skills have you developed during your time at PwC? Have you received any awards or recognitions?
What are your career goals after completing your MBA?
What attracts you to LBS or INSEAD specifically? How do you see these programs aligning with your career goals?
Are you involved in any extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership roles outside of work?

Let's have a detailed discussion of your profile and help you craft a standout application.Click here to schedule a complimentary profile evaluation session with our experts . We match you with the students and alums of top B-Schools according to your background and target schools.
