you can choose closest available region..

Schools usually allot interviewers randomly right - any reason behind allotting someone from my city?

I think it is better to wait for 2-3 days after you send out your first email, and then follow-up

Yes you can choose closest available region. They do say it is randomly allotted, but I am not sure. I selected Singapore and I got an alumni who is currently staying in Singapore

Picking a zone essentially means, you will get an alumni or student who is also in the same timezone. This is done so you can easily find a suitable time for the interview

I selected a particular city and got an alum from that city, so even I'm not sure about the allotment being random

I had selected Delhi India
Got matched with a 2nd yr student and ofcourse they would be in US right.
I had a conflict of interest that is why need to change my slot

For alums it would be based on where they are currently and for students all would be in US

My guess is as good as yours. I am not entirely sure what happens behind the scenes. I am not sure how they assign these interviewers.

But I think you shouldn’t face an issue with rescheduling your slot

My doubt is just that no slots in India are open so what’s the best option now
Closest region or in US

Yeah, could be the case that interviewers pick a zone too which would work for them just as you do. Could be both ways.
Yeah that actually makes a lot of sense
