This is nonsense lol. You definitely don’t need the background to break into banking. I know people who just graduated this past summer from non targets, no background (tennis coach, oil rigs, warehousing) who are working RIGHT NOW in banking post mba. No background in banking whatsoever.

Just cool, down to earth, successful in their own right who learned to talk the talk.

Dude, no one knows who you are. I highly doubt an Investment banker is spending his free time on Gmat club on a Thursday night as well. My brother in law doesn't get off of work until 9pm on weekdays. And he definitely doesn't have the energy to come on a random forum to discourage people unprovoked.

If your brother-in-law was a banker, you’d realize that not everybody works until 2 o’clock in the morning every single day there’s light days as well.

Bro, I’m really sorry you didn’t like my advice. I mean it and I’m not here to cause a problem with you. I’m just telling you that I’ve met people that often failed and were given really bad advice by people who sold them a false dream. If you’re smart, you’ll land I have no doubt - but many just don’t talk about the barriers and the challenges that come with breaking in that that’s all I’m saying.

I’m going to end this conversation, but I wish you good luck. It’s better it ends now. I was genuinely trying to give you good advice that was it, if you don’t like it, no worries.

I don’t have my interviewer’s email and I don’t want to come across as a stalker if I find it somehow and email them.
