I am sorry. Its hard.

Seflanas
I got interviewed last week and this morning, unfortunately, received a rejection letter.

My GPA was 3.1, I did not submit a GRE score, and my interview went “ok”. I have 9 years of experience and several global awards that supported my application.

My recommendation letters were prepared by VPs or large companies that were MIT alumni and one vice minister I closely worked with for years.

I think I needed to display higher ambitions in terms of future goals, and I needed to substantiate my low GPA with technical experience that proves my competency to carry out the SDM curriculum.

It’s very painful to get rejected after an interview. You feel so close and they snatch it from you. I’m going to find a corner to cry in for the time being and look for another opportunity tomorrow :D.

Congratulations to all those who are selected.

My application still states as Submitted and I have not yet received the interview invite till now.

The email response from adcom is also not received based on the mail I sent last week.

The suspense is really killing me, not sure what is coming....fingers crossed...

It seems that I’m the only one rejected post interview 😖. May I ask for those who got accepted, how did your profiles look like?

Youre the only person on this thread who has chosen to post that information - not necessarily the whole lot of those who were rejected. I believe the acceptance rate post interview for Sloan is currently 55%? Take heart. They might have just spotted your goals are not a great fit for Sloan. Seflanas

Hi Guys. I wanted to write in to share that I submitted an application for R1 and had an interview call with an alum two weeks ago. I just got to know yesterday that I was not accepted for this year's intake.

-If you have not received a call yet, I guess you should just wait. What I understand is there could always be a huge pool of applicants since it is a chance to study at the prestigious MIT! So, your essays and resume should reflect long work/leadership(not necessarily managerial) experience in Engineering and your own unique story and passion for the field( "Lead Engineering not leave Engineering").

-The alum just wanted to know more about me as a System Engineer, and hence these specific questions were asked:
*Tell me a bit about yourself (intro)
*Can you tell me more about the System Engineering work in your company? (generic qs: what do you do at work?/describe your role)
*How was it like to transition from an R&D to a System Engineering background?
*How many System Engineers do you have in your team and how do you interact with them?(I spoke a bit about that)
*Can you tell me more about what your goals are post SDM? (if its written in your essay, be very clear about what you write else you will get a lot of questions!)
*What is one challenge you face at your current workplace?

I hope this information helps you. Best of luck to you!

P.S A shout out to Seflanas, that at least we tried our best and well as MBAPrepCoach pointed out we might not be a fit (doesn't mean we are not smart or have any lesser potential) for them. That's all.

Congrats to those that got in. For people that did not make it, I hope you guys know that the competition is immense and most often, luck plays a huge role.

I received a status update yesterday night, 3/8. I am waitlisted/deferred. It says I will be considered with other R2 candidates. I will be kept in suspense for another 2 months.

Sorry for those who did not get in. According to the admissions office, this year was the largest SDM applicant pool in history, which would have made it even harder this time...

For those who are accepted, I've created a channel so we can connect before school starts.

Do you have any numbers on how different this year's application pool was?

Hi everyone,

I've been silently stalking the discussions. I got an invite for an interview!

I'm not able to access the link in the email confirmation. the "Access Session" link is not clickable at all.

Did anyone else run into the same issue?

I'll share my experience post interview!

Congrats on clearing the first round. I did email the admissions office about the issue and they have fixed the link in the reminder emails.

Rajmv what is the date and time of your application submittal? Perhaps your submittal was after Jan 8 midnight, which means your submission was past deadline. In this case they wouldn’t have your application and they are pretty strict about it.

Hi Seflanas, I had submitted my application on Jan6th, 11.31 am.
Not sure why the application is not yet processed. The only reason I could think of is a large number of applications still may be there to process...
My application status still shows as submitted only.
