Anyone still waiting to hear back for R1? I'm considering contacting the admissions committee unless someone waiting already has.

A lot of interviews aren't done yet--I know of some taking place as late as the 18th. I could be wrong, but common sense is that they won't release results until they at least finish all the interviews. Checking out last year's thread could shed some light on this.

That's not true. Last year they started accepting people as early as December 22. They had some notifications in the beginning of January too. But it was probably less than 20% of accepted applicants that were fortunate enough to have early notification and when I interviewed, they mentioned they had early notifications last year and hadn't yet decided if they would let a select pool know before Jan. 31 area.

A post from last year's thread:

"A second ding would definitely be something new as previous years only had 1 ding date other than the final date. Last year, there were 3-5 people on the GC forum that did not receive an update on the first ding date. I believe most of them received interviews in late Dec and early Jan, although GC represents only a small fraction of the entire Sloan applicant pool. However, I believe all of those people were required to interview in cambridge, so the travel might be annoying for some. I guess we can only wait."

I guess we can only wait too!

I'm waiting too. Unfortunately, I can't go to Cambridge because I'm stuck at home with a visa hold-up. Do you think I should let the adcom know? I fear it might negatively affect my chances of receiving an invite.

I stand corrected then. :-D

Another one of those ill-timed marketing emails.. this time probably from a student run "Consulting Group" that may be oblivious of the admission process/status.
I haven't received an interview invite or ding but did receive his email. I see you already have had an invite from Sloan. Would be interesting to see if applicants sans dings were the only ones to get this email.

I see why everyone was getting annoyed at these marketing e-mails earlier. It's quite deceptive to see the subject line flash MIT only to realize that they're telling you how great the school is again. If only they'd send one that let me know how great I was. =(

Hi jk12,

I had called up the school and spoken to someone in the adcom. I had actually directed gmac to send the official report only on the last day i.e 04th Jan and hence had the same query as yours.

But the guy was nice. He told me that as long as I had taken the exam and self-reported the score it was fine. Even though my query was specific as I am looking at a time delay of 20-odd days max, what I could gather by the talk was that u can even do the official report now, i.e after the R2 deadline.

But waiting till u get an admit may be a trifle risky. Not sure though. You might wanna call them up & check, just to be on the safer side !! :)

take care buddy

thanks tgtharvard. ok, so I can do something about it now. However, it'd be great if I can wait till admit, though I do not want to take risk with it at any cost :) Are they not clear about saying that official reporting after admit is fine?

MIT has extended their round 2 application deadline to friday 5 PM eastern time. Their system had glitches, and a bunch of people were unable to submit yesterday. Got the e-mail earlier today.
