To be honest, I think they only gave me invite because I am alumni. They just wanna make sure we are in good terms when they want to ask me for money later when I am rich.... :lol:

haha! I'm rich now, if they want money, i'll give it to them... okay, i'm only rich in friends and family, but I'm def. willing to get rid of one of them, two for that matter!

Thank you for your optimism. It sounds like they started sending out yester... perhaps tomorrow will be my lucky day! Or monday or you know tues....

So 3underscore and any other current students on the thread, what's the real story behind the Palladium? I'm indulging in some very premature wishful thinking here, but is it a good idea to live there as an MBA1?

Every time I've brought this up with other students or recent alumni, I've just got a chuckle for an answer and I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

I don't live in the Palladium but if you are single and not from NYC, I think it would be great. Everything is included (heat, air, internet, etc) so it really is at a "discount" from other NYC locations but I heard it was really small. I mean so small that many of the rooms don't have closets. (Before you gasp, know that there are TONS of NYC apartments without any closet space so that isn't unusual.)

They have their own study groups and social network but it isn't necessarily like undergrad with open doors and people hanging out 24-7. I would take a look at it before you sign on because some of my female friends walked in and said "no way" and got an apartment in the Village together instead. Oh you also have a great gym so that is nice too.

Yes I did. But it's not until mid-Jan. Work is too crazy with year-end stuff to do it next week. It seems like it's a long way off, but I'm sure it will be here before I know it

I'm really looking forward to it and the subsequent decision.

I may try to reschedule it a bit earlier in Jan though. We'll see.

How are things looking for you guys, Sterny & LeftOut? Are you in a holding pattern on other schools too? Do you have impending feedback? Preparing rd 2 apps?

Yep. I emailed them about my preference for interview date but they didn't get back to me yet. Hopefully this one will be easier to schedule since I am usually in NYC. Crossing my fingers.

Big week for me next week...I find out from Cornell and Duke. Submitting to Columbia RD at some point, but I will have plenty of time to sit on that one. Next week will decide which way I go with my R2 apps. If I get good news, I may throw an app at Wharton, too. All bad news, and it's time to reevaluate.

Glad to hear you've scheduled, I could imagine that it's eating at you to interview sooner rather than later.

none of them looked good to me so i asked if I can do it based on my preference. i don't know if I will be in NYC or not weeks in advance due to nature of my work.

This is Dec 10 2008 Q&A interview with NYU Stern Dean of Admin.

This revealed that between 25 to 30% of applicants will be invited to the interview. That's quite low. Also, the interviews are conducted by their admin staff. (Very rare that students or alumnis get involved)

They won't ask same questions asked in NYU Stern application such as "What do you to go to b-school?" during the interview. They want to "take it to the next level."

Last year's selectivity was at 14%. (YIKES!!!!)

After the interview, applicant should hear back within 3 weeks. Last year, between 50 to 60 percent of those interviewed got accepted. (YEAY!!!)

ALL DECISIONS WILL BE NOTIFIED THROUGH ONLINE STATUS WEBPAGE. (w automatic email afterwards)

Also when admitted, whoever interviewed the candidate will make a congratulatory call (they try to).

Some quick math:
~400 students per class. Say half the spots are taken in rd 1. That's 200 spots.
57% yield. So they accept ~350 to enroll 200.
~75% of interviewees get offers. So they interview ~450 to admit ~350 just in rd 1.

Apologies if there are any holes in my logic. My brain is on Friday mode after my office's holiday party last night.

I have only heard of 2 invites. I think the vast majority must still be coming . I have no theory regarding the big gap between the 2 that have been reported and the present.

Also on the scheduling website, there seem to be a ton of dates and times available which would mean that they are not yet taken!

This is just my opinion and could be 100% wrong, but hopefully it will provide hope to those who have heard nothing.
