Hi there, I have problems getting a translation for my transcript. My school will not provide an English translation and the Consulate General Germany (which is where I attended school) in the US would not provide a certification of any translation (which is required by Stern).Has anyone international students run into similar problems? Any suggestions is would be really appeciated.
Hi there,
1. Contact the German consulate and ask them if they make certified copies of official documents (they should be able to; you aren't asking them to make a certified translation, you just need the consul to stamp a copy of your transcript).
2. Once you have a certified copy of your transcript, find a certified translator in your area and get a translation. Ask the translator/agency to put it in a sealed envelope and don't open it under any circumstances. The translator/agency should give you a second copy for your own records (read it carefully and make sure they didn't make any mistakes).
Good luck!
eleuth, thanks a lot for the advice. But I am not sure I fully understand the process. Did not stern need a certification of the translation from the consulate general, they said so on their website: If the institution attended does not provide an English translation with the official transcript, a certified English translation through a translating service must be obtained and submitted in a sealed envelope, endorsed across the seal by the embassy or consulate of the institution's country. Did the consulate general have to stamp on the sealed envelope?
