My interview was extremely straightforward. The only question that I thought was a little odd was "why did you choose to attend your undergrad university?" I made that decision over 10 years ago, so didn't seem that relevant to me. haha. They asked me a couple questions about NYC vs. LA for my post MBA goals. My focus for post-MBA is entertainment and I'm from LA, so it felt like she really just wanted to ask if I'd pick NYU or UCLA. Overall, I felt like they were trying to understand if my interest in Stern was earnest and if I fit in with the student environment. They left about 10 minutes for questions back to the interviewer and they are very prompt with ending the interview at 30 minutes.

I think in the dean's podcast it says that about 70% of interviewees are accepted, so it's a great sign to get an interview. Good luck! :-D

Thank you!

What are you thinking re: Stern vs. Anderson? And what if you get Fuqua?

Haha that is the million dollar question! Anderson is offering a fellowship and Stern is not, which is a big factor. I liked Fuqua a lot when I as down there, so hoping for good news in a couple weeks. I went into this process pretty set on Stern and I'm all over the place now.

Hi,

I applied for Stern in the first round and was waitlisted without interview.
I received a mail today saying that I am invited to interview!
I am from India and in the link they have given, there is no option for off-site interviews. All the dates and timings available in the link are for interviews conducted at Stern itself. So I was thinking if I could send them a mail requesting for an off-site interview. But I am worried that asking them this would create a sort of negative impression of me.
Can anyone tell me if I should ask them about off-site interviews?

Congrats! Looks like there is some movement on the waitlist!

I don't think requesting an off-site interview would negatively impact your chances of acceptance.

I'm international too and emailed the ad com to ask about off-site interviews. They responded with the following -

We strongly encourage all applicants who are invited to interview to do so on campus. However, we realize that not everyone is able to arrange a visit to NYU Stern, and we do offer limited off-site interviews in March. These interviews are conducted by an Admission Committee member and the typical locations are China, India and London.
Please be aware that locations and dates have not yet been finalized. Please confirm your interest in an off-site interview. We will make a note of your request and reach out to you with more information in the coming weeks.

I was worried that I'd lose the chance to interview by electing for off-site, so I flew to New York for the interview in the end. Honestly, it was a great decision because I got to see the school, go for lunch with a student and another applicant, meet a few other applicants, go to a lecture and generally get a feel for the place. And I love NYC even in -17 celcius weather

Good luck with your decisions. I'm praying I get either Fuqua or Stern so maybe see you in August!! :-D

Has anyone else who applied on the R3 deadline (1/15) still not heard back regarding whether or not they were invited to interview? Also, has anyone who applied R3 heard back that they've been waitlisted or denied? Just trying to figure out when I need to start really worrying...

Thanks all!

How do you know they haven't confirmed receipt? I sent my essay in both CD and USB formats (in 1 package).

Did you email them to check if they got it? I assumed that so long as there's nothing on the status update page, they're okay with your requirements?

Stern has one of the biggest applicant pools of top programs so I'm sure it takes a while to sort them out.

my status shows that my application has been under review for over one week. i think it would only take less than 20 minutes for the admission official to review my whole package. so i guess Stern has already tagged my application as "waiting-to-be-ding"

PS: i know someone who has similar profile with me and submitted on 9th Jan has received an invitation~

My status has been stagnant for the past month or so. So I guess I'm expected to be dinged. Too bad cause I'm making the trip to NYC (I'm an international from Asia) to interview for Johnson. Could've killed two birds with one stone.

Hi ! leila0709 did you receive an email saying that your application is under review ? My status has not changed since the beginning (received confirmation emails on 02/04 and 02/05) only saying "we have received your application and it is being presented to the Committee for review". Nothing since....

Thank you SC29 for the information.
As the interview dates available now are at the end of March, I am thinking that I could ask them if any off-site interview options are still available.

How was your interview :)?!

But somebody did receive a ding, right? If they are not considering, why don't they just give us a "No"?
