I submitted for R2 and have not received my status email with my login information. Should I be worried?
Same here. Nothing. I did email them though and they said they received my app, so I guess I'm not really worried.

Nothing to worry about, those emails came out at random in R1. No amount of analyzing submission date, country of origin, initials, concentration, GPA, GMAT, or tea leaves will help you understand why you get the status email when you do.

Yeah, I just got my status email a few seconds ago. So now I finally understand what you guys were talking about all this time. But seriously, the timing of when you get a status email means nothing at all IMHO. It probably means that they've finally printed your application and tossed to the "to be reviewed" bin. That's all.

u d man! ROTFL . Stern takes its time in reading the essays and for the ~ 400 seats they must have received over 2500 apps in R2..
Sometimes I wish Stern would give out prizes for the Best Essay 3! :D. considering the effort each one of us would have put into it

I hope that's not how they decide final admissions!
I'm a JD/MBA applicant and submitted on 11/10 (before R1 deadline). The JD/MBA applicantion deadline is 2/1. I just got a status checker e-mail this afternoon. It took them more than 2months to say "we're looking forward to reading your application." go figure.
Just got the email...accepted! Rd 1 applicant, interviewed in early January.
Does Stern not even bother calling admitted students?? Kind of disappointing. Literally just got the 'your status has changed' email

First off congratulations!
Most likely you will get a call in the next few days either by the person that interviewed you or an student ambassador. Look at it this way, would you rather wait another few days to find out with a phone call or get the results now? I personally liked the email, followed up by a call.
Totally I agree, much prefer to know now! =) Thanks

Since you interviewed on the 11th, does that mean that people who have not heard back yet and applied before the 11th are probably done? Or does Stern go out of order sometimes?
For those who totally freak out and want the full story like me, what the Stern email is from "NYU Stern Admissions" and the subject is "NYU Stern Admissions." You go to your website and there says that there is a Status Letter at the bottom. Click on that and you find out. Moral of the story is that if you don't get an email that says "Congrats" - DO NOT FREAK OUT.
