I just get a sense that Stern Uses Essay 3 to decide on Fit.. considering the volume of apps they receive for abt ~ 400 seats... Essay 3 definitely plays a big role...

Any idea whn the R2 invites go out!?

I posted earlier about this. Last year on February 8 the first "true" round 2 invites went out (not people who submitted mid-december, but around the R2 deadline).

By that rationale next week should be when we start seeing R2 invites.

@solaris1 (or anyone else who knows about this) - how do scholarships work for 2nd years? Are they only available for people who got them in their 1st year and performed well academically? Or can anyone earn scholarships for 2nd year based on 1st year performance? If so, what kind of $$ levels?

As someone pointed out already, the scholarships offered with your admissions decision are for the MBA1 year only. Several MBA2s (irrespective of whether they had scholarships as MBA1s) are offered scholarships based on how "well" they do academically (or otherwise) during their MBA1 year. The MBA2 year scholarship amounts once again typically range from 5,000 to 15,000, but go as high as 50,000. Obviously only a couple of people get the 50,000.

Unless I'm mistaken, you can also apply to a handful of scholarships after being admitted, the Harvey Beker Scholarship is the only I can think of at this point however.

Yeah, a friend who is a 1st year Sternie told me the same thing - he's convinced that his essay #3 was one of the main reasons he got in.

Has anyone who was interviewed by NYU actually waitlisted or dinged afterwards? It appears that everyone who interviewed got accepted, which obviously cannot be the case, since 60% from those interviewed are granted admission.

I've actually read that its higher than that... I believe Stern only interviews about 20-25% of the applicant pool. So the odds of getting in after an interview are very high.

As far as I know you have to write an additional essay on why you should be in summer start then they let you know if you get in sometime later. Haven't heard of special interviews for summer start this year.
