I didn't submit my official GMAT score report until after I received the status update copied below saying that I was missing them. The score report was received on 1/31, but the message is still the same, saying "although there are items missing from your application..." Just wondering if anyone else had missing items and if the message changed to say that your application was complete? Sorry to add to the status message craziness. Thanks.

Thank you for applying to NYU Stern. We have received your application, and it is currently under review by the Admissions Committee. Although there are items missing from your application, it is currently before the Committee and is being evaluated. Please submit any missing items as soon as possible.

Below is a list of the items that are (or were previously) missing from your application. If you were previously missing items, the date they were received is indicated below.

Requirement Required Received Date Notes
GMAT Yes Yes 01/31/2011 from 10/2010

I just logged onto the Application Status page for the first time (I got the e-mail with the password on Jan. 20 but didn't realize there was a password to this page). I never did definitively hear that my application was complete- does this e-mail indicate it is complete, or is there some other way they let you know? Thanks in advance.

I think it is quite clear that - if PeeWee Herman can get an interview - there is no bias towards younger candidates.

Hi All- I'm wondering, do you think it is worth applying for round 3 or am I better off waiting for ED next year (i.e. would applying now actually be detrimental to my chances if I get dinged and then reapply in a few months)? Also, anyone know approximate % of class that gets selected from round 3? Thanks guys.

I had the same issue with my app. I got a confirmation from "NYU Stern Admissions Chairperson" two days after sending my GMAT score, indicating that admissions had received the scores. Did you get the same confirmation?

My status page now displays the same table as yours. But mine no longer says "Although there are items missing..."

If you received the confirmation from admissions, you should be okay IMO. If not, you should probably call them just in case.

NYU doesn't have ED, their R1 deadline is historically around Nov. 15th.

There has been a fair amount of discussion about applying R3 in general recently, and the myths surrounding it. Interestingly, most of it seems to be initiated by admissions consultants, who, lo and behold, are happy to help you out with your R3 app for a fee.

I went through this process last year. I put in a last minute R3 app to CBS and (predictably) was dinged. Then I applied ED 3 months later and had an awfully tough time explaining how my candidacy had improved beyond "I'm applying in an easier round." (I didn't actually say that, but that's the truth.) I'm not saying that I would have got in if I didn't have the prior app hanging over me, but I think my chances were close to nil because of it.

In this case, NYU has a later R1 deadline than most, so you have a little more time to supposedly grow as a candidate. The question is, do you foresee having credible personal and professional development in the next 8 months that you can write about in a reapp essay in case the R3 app doesn't work out? If so, and if you have a good explanation for why you're applying R3 to write in your optional essay, then sure, go for it.

I don't think anyone knows the % of the class admitted in R3 other than the adcom, and they aren't saying. If I was to guess I'd say 10-15%, but that's pure speculation.

Thanks thatsku. I didn't get an e-mail confirmation, just the update in the table saying "Yes" under "Received." I just called admissions and they told me to e-mail [email protected]. So I e-mailed them and I guess I'll wait to hear back.

Also, my youtube video for essay 3 hasn't been viewed yet. Is that still the case with other people who were also waiting for that recently?

When I went up and visited NYU, the students leading the info session claimed that the acceptance rate was the same through all 3 rounds. I, along with the other attendees, found this surprising and a few people asked clarifying questions. The students backpedalled a bit, but they still claimed that the acceptance rate was similar through all rounds. That's the only time I've heard this, so I can't be too sure of its validity...

So about 3/4 R2 amigos have gotten their invites. Question for R1 applicants..

Was there a day or week when most of the interview invites were sent out or were the invitations trickled out at a very slow and sometimes patience testing pace until the deadline?

I'm R2 as well. And waiting. But I found some information from last year's thread that gives us some information. Here is the list of dates that R2 interview invites went out:

Interview 1/22
Interview 2/01
Interview 2/02
Interview 2/08
Interview 2/08
Interview 2/09
Interview 2/12
Interview 2/19
Interview 2/23
Interview 2/23
Interview 2/24
Interview 2/25
Interview 3/01
Interview 3/03
Interview 3/04
Interview 3/04
Interview 3/09
Interview 3/18
Interview 3/19
Interview 3/24
Interview 3/26

The first two dates were from people who submitted way before the deadline. So, if we ignore them, GMAT Club had 19 interview invites - half of them in February, half of them in March. Looks like they might be moving slightly slower this year. I think GMAT Club is actually a little more popular (at least this thread is), so one could guess we may have a little more than last year as well. Doubtful that we would have less.

Hope this helps.

Additionally, this shows that there was never a "wave" of invites... the most any day had on this forum was 2 in a day! (Assuming people accurately reported.)
