You may be a borderline applicant and they may want to read some more applications before making a decision on yours. Or your decision making adcom member is slow :)

i wonder if we'll hear anything today. it's 4/1 after all so everyone should have heard *something* by the end of today which is in only a few more hours.

True. April Fools' Day is an odd day to make an important decision day...

To those who went through this process already: How long does the Kroll verification usually take? I signed the release almost 2 weeks ago and I know they contacted one of my past employers but I still haven't received the all clear message. Is it just the backlog?

Anyone who has already completed the Kroll background check? I want to find out how long does it take to complete the entire process. I am looking forward to deposit the enrollment fee early next week and begin the background check process.

I submitted Kroll on Wednesday Mar 16 and was finished by Friday Mar 25 (according to the Kroll person I spoke with). I think mine took longer than usual because they contacted me for more information on Monday Mar 21 and I was out of town w/o access to that information until Friday.

Yesterday came and went without notification of any kind from NYU. I applied 1/6, received a request for additional information about 10 days ago, consoled myself that they had just gotten around to reading my application and that I was still in the running, and then...nothing.

Is it worth giving adcom a shout on Monday to see where I stand? Seems crazy that they just arbitrarily ignore the notification deadline. I have to put down a deposit at Yale at the end of the month - I'm thrilled about the prospect of attending SOM, but would have liked Stern to let me know one way or the other before I shell out a $1,500 deposit.

I think Stern will let a lot of people know this week as they will want to maximize the number of people at admit weekend...

Can we expect NYU to publish some results today? I surly wouldn't mind receiving an acceptance letter :)

How many people here interviewed on March 30th? Has anyone heard back yet? P.S. I know this sounds a little ridiculous, since some folks here have been having anxiety attacks for 3+ weeks, but still...

how did your interview go? were the questions difficult?

worried that i will come off nervous during my upcoming interview. stern is my top choice and i am definitely over-preparing, but am concerned about appearing un-relaxed.

the interview with stern is very relaxed; do not stress, no behavioral or tough questions

they ease you into it, review your resume, go over your goals as a progression of your past experiences and how the mba will help, finally they ask a few things to make sure you are proactive like:

if you do not get your internship in the field you want, what is your back-up plan
also, they may ask what draws you most to stern

stern is all about having down to earth and fun people so id say come off serious but also balanced and a fun and humble classmate

Re: Calling All NYU Stern Fall 2011 Applicants [#permalink]
My interview was not intense: nothing like a job-like interviews people warned me about. Standard questions like: walk me through your CV, how would your friends describe you, internship plans and post-graduation goals. The person was not taking notes and, overall, it certainly felt like a friendly conversation. By the end, she told me that the AdCom would get back to me within 2-3 weeks. My understanding is that these interviews are more like sanity/red-flag checks: the interviewer conveys her perception to the AdCom (probably in a rather short response/write-up at best), but the rest of the application plays a far more significant role. This is my humble take on things.
