I did email them. I added in a few important things i've been doing at work. At best it gives me an edge, at worst they see that I am trying to do my best to impress them.... which i am
Edit - Also, at least the CFA Institute makes a big deal of calling yourself a CFA candidate, or even associating yourself with the CFA designation if you are not registered. Your nick being bayareaCFA, i'm sure you did well in Ethics & Codes of Professional Conduct

my last 2 cents: I think that was a great excuse to tell them hi and wish merry xmas etc. that's all-
