Can someone please comment on approximate time/days between email from Ross mentioning about completion of application and interview invite?

Ross emailed me on Jan. 14th saying that my application is complete, and will contact me if they need anything else.

Thanks.

Correlation between application complete email and interview invite date = 0.0%. Ross will release the next (and last for R-2) batch of interview invites on a single date in early Feb. My advice - use this downtime to take some time off and think about things other than the application process. It's not easy I know, but it's the biggest favor you will do yourself. Trust me - I was in your shoes a couple of years ago.

ross invites are sent out in 2 waves on fixed dates....see admission director soojin's blogs for more info on the dates, etc....they are really helpful... here's the link - https://rossblogs.typepad.com/admissions/

the 1st wave was sent out a few days ago...there is no info on the next wave yet...shld be 2-3 weeks from now....keep reading the adm director's blog...

If you ever want admission stats, go to that school's listing on businessweek.om

For Michigan: https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/ra ... higan.html

So Ross only had 5% of its enrolled students that were black?!?! Seems so small!!! I like Ross but I am not trying to repeat my ug experience where I was one of 250 black students in a freshman class of 6,000.

That's pretty standard across top business schools (just checked Wharton, which is at 5% also). Keep in mind that roughly 35% are usually from Asia/India and maybe another 5 are from latin america. It seems like hardly anyone from Africa (black or white) goes to US MBA programs, so at the end of the day you have maybe 60% of the student body who are from US/Canada. 5%/60% still isn't high by any means but i'm afraid it is the reality it top business schools.

Cheers,
Tom

I haven't researched ethnic diversity at the top schools, but they're probably all comparable. Here's some stats regarding GMAT trends if you're interested.

Manhattan GMAT Test Trends
Quote:
As for ethnicity, the vast majority of GMAT takers are white (75%), with Asians and Asian Americans making up 10%, African Americans making up 8%, Hispanic Americans making up 6%, and Native Americans making up 1%. If you belong to one of these smaller groups, your application will stand out from the crowd.

The ethnic minority figure at Ross is in line with most BSchools. 5% African American and 5% Hispanics are actually standard. I am sure Ross reach out to URMs with open events, alumni and current student events. AA as college town has a vibrant mix of races in its student population. Based on my visit, I feel all groups are well integrated and mix well in classes and social environment (canteen, activities). It is NOT the case that URMs sit at one table, Caucasian separately and Asians by themselves.

I'm sorry to hear about your undergrad experience. The statistic sounds about right. There are 2 students who are of African heritage in my section of roughly 80 students. That said, I really do not think of my classmates in terms of their ethnicity, but rather in terms of their experiences, personalities, and what they contribute in and outside the classroom. I really hope that you will not feel "out of place," if you should decide to come to Ross, because there are a lot of friendly, warm, and accepting people here. When I look at people in the Winter Garden, I don't see African Americans, Indians, Asians, Latinos, etc., but rather my colleagues and friends. I hope this helps, and best of luck to you.

Speaking of diversity, I remember a few years back that UM was sued because it was practicing affirmative action. Is that still in place at UM? Personally, I like it if they are still using affirmative action, I'm not a minority but I'd much rather learn the perspectives of minority voices.

I got mine today. We got a little info in it about the background check. I'm going to call Hire Right tomorrow and try to set everything up sooner rather than later.

For those without the binder, the background check isn't going to be anything crazy. They're going to verify work history and that's about it.

Hi guys.. Does anybody know, when do the R1 waitlisted applicants usually get calls for interviews (if at all).. Is it with R2 or R3 applicants usually, or does Ross get to its waitlist only after reviewing the entire application pool?

Also, were there people who were waitlisted after being interviewed..? I am guessing that waitlisted people can get interviewed at different times. Is that how it works?
Just trying to figure out the chances of making it after being waitlisted.

Don't get me wrong my ug experience was not bad. I was just illustrating the numbers. I certainly would not feel out of place as I grew up in an environment that was 99.999% white. I am quite used to it. However, sometimes as a black person you just want to look up and see others that look like you. That's all and I'm sure Ross would treat me well.
