I was interviewed today, by an alumni, in Brazil.
The questions were standard. No surprises or tricky questions.
An info that drew my attention: He said Ross had, as a target this year, to invite only half of the percentage they used to invite in the previous years.
Yikes... thats scary! Did he give any numbers?
He didn't say anything about numbers, but the at BW site they say Ross invited 61% of the applicant pool last year.
Do you guys think we can assume only ~30% will be invited this year?
So, from US News I have the following info:
Total Applicants for Fall 2009 admissions = 2697
Lets assume that 61% were invited for interviews ~ 1645 applicants
No. of acceptances = 630 (23.4% acceptance rate) (38% accepted after interview)
Total Full Time class strength = 500
If we apply that only 30% will be invited for interview with more or less the same no. of applicants, we will end up at around 850 invites. Now to fill a class of 500, they would need to send more or less the same no. of invites (~630) which in turn means that 74% students will be accepted after interview.
To me it seems a bit unreal from a statistical standpoint!
