I hope to join you all at Ross this fall. However, I am not sure it is going to happen. I just took the GMAT again and scored a 660. I was hoping to improve my math score as it was much lower than my verbal one from my 710 test score. So I now have a 350(anamoly), 710 and 660 on my GMAT record. This last time however my math score improved yet my verbal took a nose dive. Needless to say I am exasperated!!!!!!

loloswims - Take it again...and get an equitable score in Verbal & Quant (as best as possible) while keeping the overall score high. If you already applied in Rd2 then you need to take it ASAP - if not, obviously you have plenty of time for next year's rounds. But do take it again. I asked them specifically on Preview Day when I was there if they look at an applicant negatively who's taken it a few too many times and they said absolutely not! They don't consider how many attempts it took you to get there as long as your submitted score is very good - but they strongly recommended that the minimum for you to be competitive is 660 - which is what you have. But it is always in your best interest to get higher than 660 and equal or near-equal scores...or at least 80 on both.

Interesting... are they looking for near equal scores? I have a 75 in Q and 92 in V to make a 710.

I have already taken it three times and will NOT take it again. I am simply tired of the GMAT, DS questions and anything concerning MBA admissions:) Perhaps the adcoms will love my verbal scores.

R2 applicant here. Received interview invite on Jan 17, and interviewed (off-campus) today Jan 24. Please add me to the roll call.

Would you mind sharing your experience and some questions that you can remember?

Anyone who has interviewed - care to share?

Thanks

I don't know, I can't really make a valid point just yet since I'm still waiting on decisions, but I applied with a 58% Q and 95% V, 690 overall and am at least getting interviews. I would think if they cared so much about the split then why even invite me? I considered mentioning something about my low quant in my optional essays, but ultimately decided not to. There is nothing I can say that they haven't heard before and why make it the last impression of my application, when maybe they've already dismissed it as unimportant given my gpa, work experience, post-mba goals etc. I think as long as the overall score doesn't bring down their averages too much and you meet the academic threshold, it won't be that big of a deal.

Hopefully, I will soon have a success story to share so others can have the confidence to apply with a huge split too!

My interview was very informal -- in fact, the most informal of the four schools I have interviewed with. The interviewer (2009 alum) asked me to dress business casual and not worry about wearing a suit. And he didn't take any notes or read any questions from a script. Instead we chatted over a cup of coffee in a mostly unstructured way. Most of the conversation was about my current job and academic background and the two key questions: why did I decide to pursue an MBA? and, why Ross? He also left a good 15-20 minutes for me to ask questions.

Yeah my overall is good, but I definitely have lower grades in the math classes. Hopefully they need some verbal people to balance it all out :) I agree with you, I am not taking that test again unless I reapply next year. Can't wait to get rid of my study guides for good, right now they're hidden under my bed so I don't have to look at them lol.
