Just wanted to share my interview experience with everyone. I interviewed with an alum a couple of days ago and the overall setting was fairly relaxed since we met at a coffee shop. The interviewer had just finished interviewing another candidate so he asked me to wait for the first few minutes as he completed his notes from the previous interview.
He told me at the beginning the interview will last for 30-45 mins with another 15 mins for questions (the interview actually went on for about an hour and a half and after that we just chatted about the school for another 30 mins.
The questions themselves were fairly straightforward (I may have missed out a few)
- Tell me about yourself (followed by follow on questions on the specifics of my job and my personal background).
- Short term / long term goals, Why an MBA?, Why Ross
- A few teamwork/leadership related questions
- Strengths & weaknesses
- Community involvement
- How would you contribute to Ross? (follow up what clubs/organizations would you want to join?)
What surprised me the most was the extremely honest responses/opinions the interviewer gave me in response to my questions e.g. he was quick to point out that a significant portion of the faculty does not hail from an industry background i.e. they have been pure academicians their entire lives and hence they sometime lack a practical viewpoint on several issues.
He also spoke extensively about his MAP experience, the general learning environment at Ross etc. All in all, I left the interview feeling good and felt that I had been able to form a good connection with the interviewer.
