The forum is for discussion. And, if it was not for the gc, I wudn have come across this situation, leading me to create a login and find a 'preliminary decision'. So, all I did is contribute to the authenticity of the discussion and in fact, I called the adcom and shared the info with other gc members. I am also more than aware that technical faults are not a rare phenomenon (check this link for a good but scary example -
https://www.engadget.com/2011/02/27/gmai ... ondence-v/). It is really not a cool thing for someone to find out that they are admitted only to be hold back for a while or may be (I hope not) denied later on. No one is hurting any instituition's reputation by clearing the doubts..
I hope for you Ross finds your feeble explanations convincing. I cannot see how Gmail glitch correlates with irresponsibly causing a massive scare on the most popular B-School forum, visited by thousands of current and potential Ross applicants.
Do you really think that presenting such an esteemed institution in a such an unprofessional light - as if they were not able to protect their informational assets - would pass without notice?!
You are dealing here with multi-million dollar, very powerful establishment. Ross monitors this site closely, and they will trace you down, rest assured.
If I were you, I would come clean and tell them the truth. Send them a letter immediately and apologize before it's too late. There is more at stake than just your application: you will face criminal charges and a huge civil suit.
I'm not sure how posting about what he saw, especially since Ross admittedly validated and owned up to their mistake, is hurting the prestige of the institution or would ignite any cause for investigation. The harassing tone and inappropriate images are not appreciated. Let's all try to work on that collaborative culture we talked about in our essays
