Can anyone suggest what shud one write in Essay #1??? Things that I would have written there have already been used in goals essay and I cant rewrite same thing. So, it would be great if someone can share how they are approaching this 100 words essay.

I mentioned my career very briefly, but mostly wrote about my personality in ways I didn't have the opportunity to in the other essays. While it seemed strange not to talk about career stuff in an intro paragraph for b-school, the admissions director specifically said not to summarize your resume or give a preview of your essays:

Can anyone confirm for me the status of your recommendations, after they have been submitted (but before the app is submitted)?

Mine show "In progress", but my recommender may think that it is complete.

Anyone? Advice?

Another recommendation question...I need to swap out one of my recommenders. I tried to use the "edit recommender" function when you log out, but it looks like it's still keeping the data for the old recommender. Is there any way to do this online, or do I need to wait until Monday and speak to someone in admissions?

From what I've heard - they do, but it's on a case-by-case basis. Give ad-com a call and explain your situation.

Guys, I need your help !!!

My recommenders said that they had submitted the letters before Christmas, but did not receive any email. In addition, I can not find any link in the Ross system to check the status of my recommendations !!! The only message is the that appears is the following:

Your recommendation requests for this form have been successfully submitted!

What the hell, how I confirm that the system received the letters ??? :(

EDIT: : Before you log in there is a link "review your activity". I just confirmed that my recommendations were not submitted !!! Aaaaaa.... :evil:

Can you please elaborate and give me a more detailed description of the drawbacks of the current app? I can pass on the info to Ad-com to make next year's app more user friendly. I would highly appreciate it.

I'd make three changes to the application.

1) Allow applicants to freely move around the application forms, like others have mentioned. I tried to get my recommender emails out immediately, because they were the most difficult item to manage. I was able to do it, but it was a pain.

2) After uploading essays, resumes, transcripts, etc, we couldn't view the published document. Every other application I did allowed me to upload a document and then view it to confirm there weren't any problems (mine or technical) with the upload.

3) I took post-grad courses at two different schools without earning a degree. Unfortunately, the application was designed such that I was forced to give a graduation date and a degree date at each school. I actually ended up having to call admissions about this (I didn't call any other school for any reason) and it took us about 10 minutes to work out a solution--basically I said I graduated and gave a degree type, but added a disclaimer in my optional essay.

The first two seem to be the school's choice. As a user, I didn't like it, but that's the way life is sometimes. The third needs to be fixed for next year. It made the school seem disorganized and unprofessional.

Thanks for the great suggestions piggles, and to KingKREEP for taking the initiative to pass this information on. ApplyYourself seems to be the choice for most schools and perhaps most of us are used to the interface and layout by the 4th application! Maybe Ross could consider switching to that?
